Ten-Year DVOA Rankings: Buffalo Bills

Aug 26, 2018 9:01 PM

Beyond strictly looking at wins and losses, DVOA by Football Outsiders gives a clear picture of team performance.

The following Infographic shows the past 10 years of DVOA rankings (2008-2017) for the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills finally ended their playoff drought in 2017, sneaking into the playoffs with a -57 point differential and their worst team in DVOA over the past four seasons.

Doug Marrone began the turnaround with Sean McDermott taking the baton after a brief Rex Ryan interlude. Where the Bills go from here is unclear as they parted ways with Tyrod Taylor and drafted Josh Allen in the first round.

Jarvis Landry Called Out By Bills For 'Dirty' Block

Aug 20, 2018 8:35 AM

A number of Buffalo Bills defenders called out Jarvis Landry for what they categorized as a "dirty" block on rookie cornerback Taron Johnson in Friday's preseason game.

Johnson, a fourth-round pick from Weber State, blamed himself for not being more aggressive and said Landry later apologized to him.

The Cleveland Browns scored on a 4-yard touchdown run by Carlos Hyde on the play.

"Landry, he's a good receiver, physical guy, but some of those plays that he has -- Aaron Williams, Taron, I'm pretty sure he has other ones -- I just think they're dirty," linebacker Lorenzo Alexander said. "Coming from the outside of the box in, the league needs to do a better job of calling penalties on those types of plays. Obviously, defenders get called all the time on stuff that is probably less egregious than that. If we're going to protect our football players, we need to protect everybody, not just offensive guys.

"It was dirty at the end of the day, and that's how I feel about it."

Cam Newton, Kelvin Benjamin Have Confrontation Before Game

Aug 10, 2018 8:59 AM

Cam Newton confronted Kelvin Benjamin before Thursday night's preseason game between the Carolina Panthers and Buffalo Bills.

Benjamin criticized his former quarterback less than a week ago.

Newton offered Benjamin a handshake, but the wide receiver walked away. The quarterback stalked after him.

Benjamin said he "wasn't even trying to listen" to Newton when he approached him and that he's "moving on" from what he said about the quarterback. Benjamin told The Athletic last week that he wishes he was never drafted by the Panthers, in part because of a lack of chemistry with Newton.

"If you would've put me with any other quarterback, let's be real, you know what I'm saying?" Benjamin explained. "Any other accurate quarterback like [Aaron] Rodgers or Eli Manning or Big Ben [Roethlisberger] -- anybody! -- quarterbacks with knowledge, that know how to place a ball and give you a better chance to catch the ball. It just felt like I wasn't in that position."

Bills Acquire Corey Coleman From Browns For Draft Pick

Aug 6, 2018 10:14 AM

The Cleveland Browns have traded Corey Coleman to the Buffalo Bills for a seventh-round pick in 2020, according to sources.

Coleman, 24, was the 15th overall pick in 2016. The pick was part of the haul the Browns received from the Philadelphia Eagles in the trade for the second overall pick that same season (Carson Wentz).

He has played in just 19 of a possible 32 games in his career.
