Bills Name Joe Brady OC, Remove Interim Tag

Jan 29, 2024 8:53 AM

The Buffalo Bills have promoted Joe Brady to the full-time offensive coordinator position, removing his interim tag.

Brady was named interim offensive coordinator on Nov. 14 when Ken Dorsey was fired.

During the team's locker room cleanouts last week, Josh Allen endorsed Brady for the role.

"I would fully embrace it. I love Joe," Allen said. "I love what he brings to this team, to our offense, the juice that he has, the passion he has for football. How much preparation he's put into a tough situation these last seven to eight weeks. Yeah, I would fully embrace that. And obviously there's stuff that needs to go on before that. I understand there's probably an interview process and all that, but he's got my vote."

Jan 28, 2024 10:06 PM

The Cleveland Browns have hired former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey to be their new offensive coordinator, sources told ESPN.

Dorsey replaces Alex Van Pelt, who served as Cleveland's offensive coordinator the past four seasons. Head coach Kevin Stefanski, however, has called the offensive plays for the Browns since taking over in 2020.

GM: Bills Still See Stefon Diggs As A No. 1 WR

Jan 24, 2024 8:33 AM

The Buffalo Bills still see Stefon Diggs as a No. 1 wide receiver despite a dip in production this season.

"Stef's, he's a No. 1 receiver. I firmly believe that, not wavering off of that," general manager Brandon Beane said. "... Listen, we have to continue to put weapons out there to keep teams from bracketing him or, you know, locking him down in different ways to take him away. They know you are going to want him. Stef can still play, I'm sure he would love to have that deep ball again, he'd be the first to tell you. He's super competitive, he's going to work his tail off this offseason. I know there's various reasons or questions on this or his production, all that, but I still see Stef as a No. 1 receiver."

The "deep ball" referenced by Beane was a pass by Josh Allen in the fourth quarter of the team's 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in the divisional round.

On first-and-10 from the Buffalo 20-yard line with 8:23 remaining, Allen uncorked a pass that had an air distance of 63.4 yards but went through the hands of Diggs.

Diggs finished the game with three receptions on eight targets for 21 yards. His final 100-yard receiving game of the season came in Week 6, and he finished the final seven games of the season, including playoffs, averaging 41 receiving yards per game and with zero receiving touchdowns.

"I can't say in particular why specifically [Diggs' production dropped]," Sean McDermott said. "If I could, we would flip it back that way, right? To the way it started earlier in the year. Sometimes defenses evolve, sometimes there are more things on tape through the course of the season and people copy them, what's on tape.

"Listen, Stef is a great player. I love Stef. He was a phenomenal teammate. I like how the offense found some rhythm, though, under [interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady], and Stef got back involved at times, especially down the stretch, at least in the last two or three games, so to speak."

Josh Allen Has Faith Bills' Title Window Will Remain Open

Jan 23, 2024 8:17 AM

Josh Allen has confidence in what the Buffalo Bills have built despite falling short of an AFC title game and Super Bowl appearance again Sunday night.

The Bills battled back from 6-6 to win the AFC East and put together a six-game winning streak, but they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round.

Allen, 27, said he isn't worried about the championship window closing.

"I believe in what we've got going on here and the people that are in charge," he said. "I believe in myself. And that'll never change."

Despite the success Allen has had in 10 career postseason games -- 64.6% completions, 21 passing touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 83 rushing attempts for 563 yards and 5 rushing scores -- Buffalo is just 5-5 in those contests.

Tyler Bass Takes Blame For Bills' Loss To Chiefs After Missed FG

Jan 22, 2024 9:22 AM

Tyler Bass took the blame for the Buffalo Bills' 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night after he missed a 44-yard field goal that would have tied the score with less than two minutes left in regulation.

"Ultimately, it's completely on me. I've got to do a better job of getting through to my target," the kicker said. "I've got to do a better job of playing it a little bit more left when you have a left-to-right [wind]. I've been here long enough to know that you have to do that. You know, I was trusting my line that I had in warmups. Hit a good ball, but it didn't work out. I feel terrible, you know? I love this team and it hurts. This one hurts bad. Yeah, I've got to do a better job. Totally on me."

Bass finished the regular season and postseason with his lowest field goal percentage in his four-year career (76.5%). Sean McDermott said after the game that they have "full confidence" in Bass. The coach also pointed to the Bills' defense and special teams not playing the "way we needed to."

Chiefs Beat Bills, Reach AFC Championship For 6th Straight Season

Isiah Pacheco scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 4-yard run 40 seconds into the fourth quarter in a game during which the teams traded leads five times. Travis Kelce scored a pair of touchdowns in a return to form game in what has been a subpar season by his standards.

The Bills had their third consecutive postseason end in the divisional round, following losses to Cincinnati last year and the Chiefs in 2021. And the Chiefs ended Buffalo’s season for the third time in four years, including a 38-24 decision at Kansas City in the AFC championship game in the 2020 season.
