Mario Williams Playing Significantly Better Since Wrist Surgery

Oct 30, 2014 10:39 AM

Mario Williams has significantly increased his play since undergoing surgery on his wrist.

Williams, however, said he doesn't wish he underwent the surgery earlier.

"No, because I definitely would've missed a game for sure," Williams said. "Regardless of what happened and if it hindered anything, you don't want to miss a game coming into your first year in a new place.

"You just have to suck it up every week. ... I'm glad I did it when I did."

Williams had just 16 tackles, 3.5 sacks and seven quarterback hits in seven games before the surgery. In six games following the surgery, Williams has 21 tackles, seven sacks and seven quarterback hits. He has also forced two fumbles.

Bills Admit RB Rotation Felt 'Awkward'

Oct 10, 2014 9:53 PM

C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson have shared carries this season for the Buffalo Bills.

Chan Gailey admitted Monday "it felt awkward" to rotate running backs this season.

"Last year, when C.J. got a chance to play and showed how explosive he was," Gailey said of when he changed his mind on having a feature back. "We came into the season, saying 'We've got two great backs. Let's use them both. Let's let them both get carries, that way we may not wear one down and we may keep them for the whole year,' which didn't work out. But that was the point.

"I didn't have discussions with the staff. We made the decision. It seemed like the best decision at the time, which I still believe it's the best decision that we could've made, considering our situation with two great players.

"I'd do it again if I had it to do over. ... It was the best decision, and you go with the best decision. There's a lot of things that have happened that I didn't do 10, 15 years ago the same."

Jackson's latest injury is considered minor.
