Josh Rosen: It's My Duty To Prove Cardinals Wrong If They Ship Me Off

Apr 18, 2019 4:28 PM

Josh Rosen admits the uncertainity of his future with the Arizona Cardinals has bothered him.

The Cardinals are considering selecting Kyler Murray, which would then lead to a trade of Rosen.

"I think the season probably went as poorly as it could possibly go," Rosen said from an RV. "But within that, I had an unbelievable time. I think when people talk about, like, you can't listen to criticism or you can't read articles, you have to be aware of what's going on to a certain extent. So I definitely understand the situation.

"It's annoying, but it is what it is. Football's a business, and I definitely respect the higher-ups and their decisions. We won three games, and each one of those wins -- to me, it felt like we won the Super Bowl. And that feeling is so intoxicating, and that's why I just want nothing more than to be part of a team next year and have the same opportunities to go out and compete."

On Tuesday, new Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said Rosen has been "phenomenal" through the offseason and has been the first one to show up to offseason workouts. General manager Steve Keim said he has had "good dialogue" with Rosen and called the quarterback a "pro's pro."

"I think the best advice I've ever gotten in life, from so many different people, is control what you can control," Rosen said. "And whatever decisions are made, it's my duty to prove them right if they keep me and prove them wrong if they ship me off."

Russell Wilson: No-Trade Clause 'Sealed' Seahawks Deal

Apr 18, 2019 8:21 AM

Russell Wilson says agreeing on a no-trade clause helped finalize his contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks this week.

"We talked about the idea of a no-trade clause just because we really wanted to be here," Wilson said. "That was the thing we were really excited about and that's kind of what sealed the deal for us."

Wilson agreed to a four-year, $140 million deal that makes him the highest-paid player in NFL history. It includes $107 million in guarantees, according to a source.

Wilson called Seattle "a special place" and "home for us" as he shot down the rumors that had surfaced while his future was in apparent limbo that he wanted to play elsewhere.

"The guys I've always admired in sports, the guys that played at [their] locations for 15 to 20 years, guys like Derek Jeter, I want to be like that," Wilson said. "I want to be remembered in that sense of what we want to do here in Seattle. So, we're just getting started."

Saints, Titans Had Legitimate Interest In Antonio Brown

Apr 14, 2019 4:03 PM

The New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans had legitimate interest in trading for Antonio Brown at points during the process.

While the New England Patriots had interest in Brown, the Pittsburgh Steelers had no intention of trading him to a rival.

Brown blocked a trade to the Buffalo Bills before eventually being acquired by the Oakland Raiders.

Seahawks Believe Russell Wilson Would Like To Play Elsewhere

Apr 14, 2019 9:32 AM

The Seattle Seahawks believe Russell Wilson would like to play elsewhere, according to a source. Wilson hasn't said this to the Seahawks and may never express it.

But the feeling is Wilson could drive a harder bargain on his contract with the Seahawks than he would another team.

Wilson was recently asked by Jimmy Fallon about a rumor that he could end up with the New York Giants.

"I'm not sure if the Seahawks are gonna let me get away," said Wilson.

Wilson and his agent, Mark Rodgers, continue to talk to the Seahawks about a long-term deal.

Wilson could take a year-to-year approach if he doesn't sign an extension with the Seahawks.

Jack Del Rio Wouldn't Be Surprised If Seahawks Traded Russell Wilson

Apr 10, 2019 8:19 AM

Russell Wilson wants a new contract from the Seattle Seahawks by April 15.

If he doesn't receive one, the quarterback could take a year-to-year approach under the franchise tag.

Jack Del Rio offered another option during an appearance on NFL Network.

"[D]on't be surprised if before it's all said and done when we line up for the season next year if Russell Wilson isn't quarterbacking somewhere else and the Seahawks haven't gone and gotten a quarterback they think for the future," Del Rio said.

49ers Were 'Stunned' When By OBJ Trade, Would Have Offered Better Deal

Apr 8, 2019 11:34 AM

The San Francisco 49ers were reportedly "stunned" when the New York Giants traded Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns.

Dave Gettleman and John Lynch had been talking about a possible trade for weeks.

The 49ers never ultimately heard from the Giants before the trade was made. It's strongly believed the 49ers were willing to offer more for Beckham than the Browns, according to a league source.

Gettleman never shopped Cleveland's deal around in hopes of a better trade.

Robert Griffin III Thought He Had Chance To Become Jags' Starting QB

Apr 4, 2019 10:56 AM

Robert Griffin III believes he had a chance to start for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019 had they not traded for Nick Foles.

The Jaguars tried to trade for Griffin at the end of the preseason and again before the trade deadline.

Griffin waited to sign a two-year, $4 million with the Baltimore Ravens until the Jaguars traded for Foles.

"We knew that was an opportunity and there'd be a chance if things didn't work out with Nick Foles," Griffin said on the Ravens' podcast. "We just wanted to wait and see what would happen."

Griffin will be Lamar Jackson's backup in 2019.
