Ex-Teammate: Aaron Rodgers 'Conflicted' About Future

May 7, 2021 8:56 AM

Former Green Bay Packers fullback John Kuhn says he has talked with Aaron Rodgers since the news broke last Thursday of the quarterback's unhappiness with the organization.

During an appearance on "The Zach Gelb Show on CBS Sports Radio," Kuhn said he wouldn't disclose the exact details of their conversation but painted a picture of a quarterback who is evaluating all aspects of the situation and hasn't made up his mind.

"He's conflicted because this man loves to play the game of football, this man loves to be a Green Bay Packer and this man truly sees careers," Kuhn said during the interview. "He's watched friends leave, he watched Brett Favre's career toward the end. He's watched all these things play out in front of his eyes; he's taken notes throughout his career. He's seen some situations that didn't feel were done or finished the way that they could or should have.

"He's just trying to take his earned destiny within his own hands. To that effect, I actually admire him because not many players in the NFL have that opportunity. I sure as heck didn't. I played until everybody told me 'you can't play anymore,' and it's a humbling feeling. Aaron Rodgers has an opportunity to take a little bit of that power."

Packers Haven't Held Aaron Rodgers Trade Talks

May 3, 2021 1:26 PM

The Green Bay Packers claim they didn't discuss a trade of Aaron Rodgers last week.

“I had no [trade] discussions with any team," said Brian Gutekunst. "I received one call from a team Thursday night, after all the news came out. I said no. That was the end of the conversation.”

Gutekunst was also asked to respond to the reported bad feelings that exists towards him from Rodgers.

Gutekunst said “you never want to see those things or read those things. He’s never said that to me and he never said that publicly . . . At the same time, I’m a lifelong scout, and we work all year for these three days. We couldn’t let this distract us from the task at hand.”

Report: Aaron Rodgers 'Intrigued' By Raiders

May 3, 2021 10:46 AM

While the Aaron Rodgers situation in Green Bay continues to play out, the quarterback's future remains uncertain.

Rodgers would reportedly rather retire than return to play for the Packers.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN is reporting that Rodgers is "intrigued" by the Las Vegas Raiders.

"[Aaron Rodgers] is reportedly intrigued by the Raiders as well, so they have to be on this list," Fowler said. "They're happy with Derek Carr; nothing's going on right now, and they very well could extend Derek Carr sometime soon. But the Raiders look into every single quarterback situation. ... They looked at past free agents or trade options. So, Jon Gruden is sort of always lurking. You can't discount them."

Packers 'Committed' To Aaron Rodgers, Not Trading Him

Apr 30, 2021 9:36 AM

The Green Bay Packers remain committed to Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback and have no plans to trade him.

"We've been working through this for a little while now, and I just think it may take some time," general manager Brian Gutekunst said. "But he's a guy that kind of makes this thing go. He gives us the best chance to win, and we're going to work towards that end."

Gutekunst discussed Rodgers hours after a report earlier in the day that the quarterback has become so disgruntled with the team that he has told some members of the organization he does not want to return to the Packers.

Rodgers, 37, is under contract through the 2023 season but has no more guaranteed money left on his deal.

"We're not going to trade Aaron Rodgers," Gutekunst said.
