Jim Kelly is recovering after undergoing a grueling surgery in New York City to treat a recurrence of oral cancer, according to his wife.

"Surgery is complete," Jill Kelly wrote in an Instagram post. "Thank GOD and the amazing team of doctors and nurses that took care of Jim today...and will continue to take care of him as he heads into a very significant time of recovery."

The surgery lasted nearly 12 hours. A hospital spokeswoman confirmed to The Buffalo News that the surgery, which was termed "complicated," was successful.

Bills 'Not Ready' To Move Up In Draft For Quarterback

Mar 20, 2018 7:08 PM

The Buffalo Bills have the assets to move up in next month's NFL Draft for a quarterback, but they aren't yet ready to make such a bold move.

"The truth? Most of these quarterbacks I've only spent 15 minutes with. [At the combine, each team can meet with prospects for a maximum of 15 minutes per player.] I haven't spent enough time to have an opinion about any of them yet, honestly," general manager Brandon Beane said.

"I actually sent a little note to our [scouts] yesterday. We got six weeks to get our board together. I am not there yet, knowing if we can or will move up again. I want Sean [McDermott] to get to know all of them. We're just keeping an open mind. Where we're at, we've got the picks, we've got the draft capital. I'm not ready to pull the trigger."

After trading Tyrod Taylor to the Cleveland Browns, the Bills have two first-round picks (No. 21, No. 22) as well as two second and third-rounders.

Jordan Matthews Blames Eagles' Medical Staff For Lingering Injuries

Mar 7, 2018 7:31 AM

Jordan Matthews says that "two really bad diagnoses" by the Philadelphia Eagles' medical staff led to him joining the Buffalo Bills last August via trade with lingering knee and ankle damage.

"I think the worst and most frustrating thing about the whole situation was, when I got to Buffalo, I was still dealing with the things that I had to get surgery on," said Matthews, who went under the knife in December. "But I had two really bad diagnoses on the knee and the ankle, so going into the trade, I thought they were both things that were going to heal on their own. But once I got around Buffalo's doctors, they got me in touch with the right people and then I got really good feedback.

"We ended up finding out there were other things that I was dealing with, so the thumb was definitely upsetting, the chest was upsetting. But what's crazy was when they ended up doing my surgery on my knee, they actually told me that, 'Man, it's a good thing that you didn't play more games, you didn't practice more, because you needed to come here and get this procedure done as soon as possible.' So, if anything, it was a blessing in disguise. I don't regret any of the times that happen. I think it honestly has just made me a stronger person, it's going to make me a better player."

Matthews played in just 10 games for the Bills, catching 25 passes for 282 yards and a touchdown.

Bills Sign Chris Ivory To Two-Year Deal

Mar 6, 2018 11:49 AM

Chris Ivory has agreed upon a two-year deal with the Buffalo Bills with a base value of $5.5 million.

Ivory projects to be the Bills' No. 2 running back behind LeSean McCoy, whose 287 carries last season were the third most of his nine-year career.

Brandon Beane believed the Bills needed to find a complementary running back to McCoy this offseason. Mike Tolbert averaged 3.7 yards per carry in that role for Buffalo in 2017.
