Nike Doesn't Renew Endorsement Deal With Jameis Winston

Aug 3, 2018 6:00 PM

Nike has declined to renew the shoe contract of Jameis Winston.

Winston's contract expired before the NFL announced he would be suspended for the first three games of the regular season for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

Winston was accused of groping a female Uber driver.

Nike signed Johnny Manziel in 2014, but ended the relationship the following year because of his off-field troubles.

Buccaneers Sign Jason Licht To Extension Through 2019

Aug 1, 2018 11:29 AM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed general manager Jason Licht to an extension through 2019.

Licht, 47, replaced Mark Dominik as GM in 2014, a few weeks after Lovie Smith was named head coach.

“I think one of the positive signs in any situation is re-signing your own players,” Joel Glazer said in March. “And when you start getting on a trend that you’re re-signing your own players, that means you are drafting well. If you’re drafting well, generally that means you’re going to start having success.

“So you saw Cameron Brate and Mike Evans [re-signed]. We got a couple of young guys with contracts that are coming up that we know we’re going to want to keep. So that to me is the most positive sign of, you know, what’s happening with the general manager.”
