The Panthers bottomed out in 2010, drafted Cam Newton and quickly became one of the best teams in the NFC. Even in 2014 when they ranked 25th in DVOA and had a losing record, they still went to the playoffs.

Carolina reached the Super Bowl in 2015 when they ranked fourth in DVOA.

The Carolina Panthers have hired Tom Glick as team president.

Glick is leaving his job as chief commercial officer of Manchester City.

Glick has also worked in the NBA league office and for the Brooklyn Nets.

Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver D.J. Moore was charged with driving 113 mph in a 65 mph work zone earlier this month.

The incident occurred Aug. 10 on Interstate 77 at 2:52 a.m. after the Panthers returned home from a preseason win at the Buffalo Bills.

Ron Rivera said Moore came to the team right away after the incident to explain what happened.

"He was very remorseful. He understood," Rivera said. "We chastised him, obviously. Moving on. And again, it is an opportunity for him to learn. Not just him, but the other young guys, that you have a responsibility to the community."

Moore, the 24th overall selection in this year's NFL draft, has four catches for 75 yards in two preseason games.

Cam Newton confronted Kelvin Benjamin before Thursday night's preseason game between the Carolina Panthers and Buffalo Bills.

Benjamin criticized his former quarterback less than a week ago.

Newton offered Benjamin a handshake, but the wide receiver walked away. The quarterback stalked after him.

Benjamin said he "wasn't even trying to listen" to Newton when he approached him and that he's "moving on" from what he said about the quarterback. Benjamin told The Athletic last week that he wishes he was never drafted by the Panthers, in part because of a lack of chemistry with Newton.

"If you would've put me with any other quarterback, let's be real, you know what I'm saying?" Benjamin explained. "Any other accurate quarterback like [Aaron] Rodgers or Eli Manning or Big Ben [Roethlisberger] -- anybody! -- quarterbacks with knowledge, that know how to place a ball and give you a better chance to catch the ball. It just felt like I wasn't in that position."
