Panthers Receive $2.5B Bid To Purchase Franchise

Bidding for the Carolina Panthers has reached $2.5 billion.

Fanatics owner Michael Rubin is one of the bidders but he's reportedly not willing to go that high. Rubin's potential partners include Sean Combs and Stephen Curry.

Sources close to the process could not confirm to ESPN that the $2.5 billion is accurate. The Panthers are valued by Forbes at $2.3 billion. 

Jerry Richardson put the Panthers up for sale following an NFL investigation into allegations of sexual and racial workplace misconduct.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will sign former Carolina Panthers guard Andrew Norwell to a five-year, $66.5 million deal when free agency opens, according to a source.

Norwell will receive $30 million in guaranteed money.

The 26-year-old will become the NFL's highest-paid guard, averaging $13.3 million in annual salary.

According to Pro Football Focus, Norwell was the only lineman not to allow a sack or quarterback hit in 2017.

Fanatics Owner Plans To Bid On Panthers

Michael Rubin, the owner of Fanatics, has emerged as a bidder for the Carolina Panthers.

Rubin owns a stake in the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Devils and the Premier League team Crystal Palace. He is considered a serious bidder in the race to buy the first NFL team up for sale in more than three years.

Rubin joins hedge fund billionaire David Tepper and Ben Navarro, the founder and CEO of the debt collection firm Sherman Financial Group, as the others bidding for the Panthers.
