LaMichael James suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee in the San Francisco 49ers' final preseason game.
The extent of the injury is not yet known, but it is not believed to be serious.
James is third on the 49ers' running back depth chart behind Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter.
James is expected to miss three weeks, according to Matt Maiocco of Comcast.
Seneca Wallace informed the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday morning that he would leave the franchise.
The 49ers were presumably sticking with Colt McCoy as their backup quarterback.
Wallace didn't play in the NFL last season.
Nnamdi Asomugha has secured the San Francisco 49ers' No. 3 cornerback job, overtaking Tramaine Brock.
"He's done well in his reps that he's had in the game and in practice," Fangio said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. "Particularly the last two or three weeks, he's played much better."
Asomugha has struggled as a slot corner, so it remains to be seen how the 49ers will work him into the defense in passing packages.

The San Francisco 49ers and Colt McCoy have agreed on a restructured contract that will lower his base salary from $1.5 million to the minimum of $630,000.

Kaepernick completed 62.4 percent of his 218 regular season attempts and threw an interception in just 1.4 percent of those. Kaepernick’s decision-making and accuracy was far more advanced than expected and the strength of his arm puts the entire field in play vertically and horizontally.
Kaepernick is gifted as a runner but is on another plane. Kaepernick ran for 415 yards on 62 attempts (6.6 yards per carry average). His 181 yards and two touchdowns on 16 attempts in the Divisional Round against the Green Bay Packers was one of the most dominant performances from a quarterback in history and even 25 percent of that production would make Kaepernick a future Hall of Famer.
Peterson wasn’t as much of a factor as a returner in his second season as he was as a rookie, but he intercepted seven balls and generally played strong man-to-man coverage as he continues to refine the mechanics of his game. Peterson also recovered five fumbles, which led the NFL.
Peterson is such a special player that Bruce Arians is installing a package of plays for him on offense.

The 49ers believe they have good depth at the position behind Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks.
Haralson is an eight-year veteran who renegotiated his contract in the offseason.
The Saints lost Will Smith to injury for the entire season on Monday.

Jenkins was the 30th overall pick by the 49ers in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Illinois.
Jenkins has struggled at wide receiver for the 49ers in both practice and in preseason play.
Like Jenkins, Baldwin is a former first round pick that has struggled.
