Aldon Smith has left rehab and turned himself in in connection with a felony weapons charge.
Smith immediately posted $75,000 in bail after he was processed. Smith is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 12 in connection with the charge. He has an additional court date on Nov. 19 to face misdemeanor DUI and drug charges.
Smith has been on an "indefinite absence" from the San Francisco 49ers.
Jim Harbaugh met with Smith at the 49ers' facility on Wednesday.
"The best approach is the day-to-day approach," said Harbaugh. "And just focusing on having a good day today. Getting the most out of today and avoid the 'if this, if that, in a week, in two weeks, in a month' timetable type of talk."
The 49ers wouldn't give a return date for Smith.
Aldon Smith's decision to seek alcohol treatment could work in his favor when the NFL makes a decision on his suspension for off-the-field-issues.
Smith entered treatment on Sept. 23.
"Certainly, the issue here isn't to discipline players. It's to stop the behavior," Roger Goodell said. "Aldon has voluntarily said, 'I need help.'
"We're obviously there to support him, and the 49ers did a great job getting him into a facility to try to get help. We support that."
The San Francisco 49ers could face a five-man defensive line from the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Tennessee Titans used that formation to strong effect last week against the 49ers. The 49ers only had 20 yards and one first down in four fourth quarter drives against the formation.
General manager Trent Baalke said that the San Francisco 49ers are unlikely to trade for a wide receiver ahead of the trade deadline.

The identity of the San Francisco 49ers' offense during the tenure of Jim Harbaugh has been to focus on the running game.

Colin Kaepernick threw for over 400 yards in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers, but the 49ers have shifted more toward the run in the subsequent weeks.

The San Francisco 49ers have a 4-0 record since Smith entered treatment.

Harbaugh is hopeful that Smith can return to the 49ers this season, though he could also face a league suspension.
The San Francisco 49ers expect to get Michael Crabtree back from his Achilles injury in mid-to-late November.
The 49ers are eager to improve their receiving corps for Colin Kaepernick.
"We're settling into the new normal, and we don't really feel as comfortable with (Kap) running (the ball) without Alex Smith as his backup," said a source.
Crabtree become one of the NFL's best pass receivers late last season when paired with Kaepernick.
Dr. Daniel Garza, medical director of the San Francisco 49ers, passed away this week at his home in Redwood City, California.

Garza is one of the nation's leading researchers into concussions.
LaMichael James was inactive on Sunday for the San Francisco 49ers against the Indianapolis Colts despite being healthy.
James was a second round pick in 2012 by the 49ers and Jim Harbaugh said Monday that he will have a role moving forward.
The 49ers used Kendall Hunter and Anthony Dixon as Frank Gore's backups at running back.
“His development's been fine,” Harbaugh said of James. “He’ll be back playing ... LaMichael’s a very good player and he is a very valuable member of our team. We’ve had a situation where we’ve dressed three running backs on certain games and in certain games we’ve dressed four. But, you know, I definitely, we definitely all value and look at LaMichael as a backup running back, like a two. And, there’s going to come time where he is a, like last year, where he’s fully in the mix and depended on and that time will come again. But, he’s doing a good job. I know he wants to play, he wants to be contributing, and when he is dressed he is contributing and doing that.”
