Jimmy Garoppolo wasn't in uniform for Thursday's practice with Trey Lance leading his third straight practice with the San Francisco 49ers. 

"[Garoppolo] is off to the side talking to a team doctor," wrote Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.

Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle added, "He then went into [the] weight room."

Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament of the right thumb, as well as a fracture in the same thumb early in the San Francisco 49ers' 20-17 loss at the Tennessee Titans.

Garoppolo did not participate in the Niners' Monday "bonus" practice, which came after the team went its separate ways for the three days following the loss in Nashville. 

Trey Lance took all the work with the starters on Monday.

Garoppolo finished the game but struggled with a pair of costly interceptions and missed a would-be touchdown throw to open fullback Kyle Juszczyk in the first half.

With Garoppolo considered day-to-day, Lance could be in line for his first extended work with the starters since before a Week 5 loss to Arizona. 

Jimmy Garoppolo did not practice with the San Francisco 49ers on Monday with a thumb injury.

The injury is believed to be more serious than initially suspected.

The 49ers play the Houston Texans on Sunday and Garoppolo's stays is uncertain.

The future of Jimmy Garoppolo with the San Francisco 49ers has been tenuous since the team traded up in the 2021 draft and eventually selected Trey Lance. As Garoppolo has been inconsistent this season and had a tough performance in Week 16, his future remains even murkier.

The Cincinnati Bengals couldn't stop George Kittle on Sunday afternoon, but that doesn't mean they didn't try.

Kittle caught 13 passes for 151 yards in the San Francisco 49ers' overtime win over the Bengals.

"When a guy is that explosive, and that big, that good of hands, that catch radius, he makes a lot of plays. And I promise you, we tried like hell to take him away, and he just finds a way to make those plays," Zac Taylor said.
