Richard Sherman expects the San Francisco 49ers to pursue Earl Thomas in free agency.

“If they need me to be, I have no problem with it,” Sherman told reporters on Thursday.

“I think this is a pretty attractive destination as is. But money is the best recruiter. I’ll give my two cents. I’ll give you my best recruiting pitch.”

The 49ers are expected to have $70 million in cap space.

“Would I love to play with Earl Thomas III? I would love to,” Sherman said. “I would love to have him back in the locker room. But I’m sure he’ll have a plethora of opportunities, and I’m sure we’re going to throw our hat in the ring.”

The 49ers have a group of young safeties, but no guaranteed starters among the group that includes Jaquiski Tartt, Adrian Colbert, Marcell Harris and D.J. Reed.

The NFL has released its 2019 Pro Bowl rosters, headlined by Patrick Mahomes.

Tony York, the youngest son of 49ers owners Denise DeBartolo York and John York, was found dead on Friday in Sausalito.

Tony York was the younger brother of CEO Jed York.

A team source said it is believed Tony York committed suicide.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office released a statement saying “an investigation into the cause, mode, manner and circumstances of death is currently underway.”

“This hasn’t been the easiest year for any of us. It’s probably the understatement of the year. My brother was a great kid. He loved everything about this, he loved everything about you guys. You know, it was hard for him sometimes, and I think he’s at peace now.

“But I want you guys to know this, and I talked to Kyle and John a little about it last night: Bill Walsh said something, ‘Champions behave like champions before they’re champions.’ This team is going to be a champion. I’m going to leave a ring when we get one for my brother.”

Richard Sherman, who turned 30 in March, says he's open to moving to safety before the end of his career.

"I think 35 is probably my cutoff," Sherman said. "They'd have a hard time getting me out of the bed at 35 to go play, so I think I've got about four or five more [seasons] in me. At some point, everybody makes the transition to safety and if you're smart enough to play that game and I'll probably do that in a couple of years or whenever the team needs."

While he isn't ready to move from cornerback just yet, Sherman has already begun looking into what a move to safety might entail and what might appeal to him about it.

"At corner, I've had games where I haven't got a look, thrown at, and at safety you can see exactly where the ball goes and you can make an impact," Sherman said. "You can get in on every tackle just about because you're in the center of everything, kind of like the Mike [linebacker]. But it's something I'm definitely going to consider later in my career and hopefully I'll be just as good there."

Elissa Enni believes the San Francisco 49ers attempted to intervene during the arrest of Reuben Foster to undermine her claims of domestic violence.

Ennis felt that police officers didn't believe her after she called 911 from a Tampa, Florida, hotel on Nov. 24 and that the 49ers told police she was the same woman who previously recanted allegations against Foster.

"Even when I called the police, the 49ers came up there," Ennis said. "... I have pictures of the 49ers coming up there trying to talk to the police telling them I'm the same ex-girlfriend that set up there and lied."

The 49ers declined comment to "Good Morning America."

Jay Gruden revealed that Washington has internally considered pursuing Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick has the most impressive resume of any available quarterback.

“He’s been talked about and discussed, but we will probably go a different direction,” Gruden said of Kaepernick, via Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan.

Washington recently created controversy by claiming Reuben Foster off waivers despite multiple domestic violence accusations.
