The Green Bay Packers have an NFL-leading 33 players they drafted currently on their roster, more than twice that of the Chicago Bears (15) and nearly twice the Jacksonville Jaguars (17) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (17).

The Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals are tied for second with 30 original draft picks apiece.

Jim Harbaugh and Trent Baalke talked about their relationship as head coach and general manager of the San Francisco 49ers, which has been portrayed as strained.

“So much has been written and said that—unfortunately—it’s been written and been said by people that have never sat down with me, or personally sat down with Jim, or ever been in the building to see how the dynamics of this building work,” Baalke said this week. “Our relationship is good. And it’s been good. But like any relationship there have certainly been times when decisions need to be made and all the things that go with those decisions come into play and there’s banter, and it’s good.

“I’ve seen so much written that it doesn’t make sense to me. They don’t know us. And to put words into our mouths is unfair. To read into it is unfair. This is a competitive business, and the only way to survive is to be highly competitive. And everyone in this organization is highly competitive, just like any other. It’s a highly competitive environment. We like that. That’s what we thrive on. So to say that the relationship is strained or it’s a relationship that can’t coexist is totally off base. Totally off base.”

There were reports earlier in the offseason that Harbaugh may leave the 49ers for the Cleveland Browns and that Baalke would be with the franchise for the long-term.

Harbaugh remains without a long-term contract.

“Just the way you posed the question, you seemed to indicate that it’s a confrontational perception about our relationship,” Harbaugh said. “It is teamwork and that’s what it has been, and that’s what it continues to be and that’s what it has to be moving forward. That’s our belief. We’ve done a good job executing that and making it about what’s best for the team and the San Francisco 49ers. We’re lockstep in that understanding.”

The San Francisco 49ers could trade up in the draft with Mike Evans as their rumored target.

Evans is rated 4th in RealGM's Big Board of Wide Receivers.

The Los Angeles County district attorney's office has referred Aldon Smith's airport arrest earlier this month to the Los Angeles city attorney's office for misdemeanor consideration.

Smith was arrested at LAX for making a fake bomb threat.

The 49ers declined to comment on Thursday's development because the case is pending.

Smith, 24, has a court appearance Tuesday on felony gun charges and a drunken driving charge in Santa Clara (Calif.) County. He also faces potential discipline from the league.

The 2014 NFL schedule will begin with the Green Bay Packers playing at the Seattle Seahawks in a Thursday night game in Week 1.

The Sunday night game in Week 1 will feature the Indianapolis Colts at the Denver Broncos.

The Seahawks will play at the San Francisco 49ers in the Week 13/Thanksgiving night game. The two teams meet again in Week 15 on Dec. 14.

The Seattle Seahawks have acquired Terrelle Pryor from the Oakland Raiders for a 7th round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Pryor is scheduled to make $705,000 in 2014.

The Raiders were expected to release Pryor on Tuesday if a deal wasn't worked out. 

The San Francisco 49ers were also interested in Pryor.

The San Francisco 49ers and Colin Kaepernick have put their extension talks on hold.

The goal for the Niners and Kaepernick remains getting a new deal done before the start of the 2014 season.

But talks were reportedly not going well before they put them on hold.

The San Francisco 49ers are not expected to exercise the fifth-year option on Aldon Smith for 2015.

Smith was arrested Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport on charges of a false bomb report.

In November, he pleaded not guilty to three felony counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon, stemming from an incident at a party at his home in 2012.

Smith also missed five games this past season while spending time in an alcohol treatment center. 

Smith still finished with 12 sacks despite the five-game absence.

The San Francisco 49ers are shopping LaMichael James in trade scenarios.

“He wants to play,” said a source.

James was a 2012 second round pick out of Oregon.

James collected just 39 carries in his first two seasons.

The 49ers’ loaded backfield during James’ career has included Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter. The 49ers also figure to work in Marcus Lattimore, who didn't play last season while rehabbing from a serious knee injury in college.

The San Francisco 49ers are unlikely to exercise their option on Aldon Smith for 2015.

If they do exercise the option, more than $9 million is guaranteed against injury in 2015.

The 49ers won't cut Smith, however, as the club has committed resources to helping him fix his off the field issues.

If the 49ers have reason to believe Smith will be facing an NFL suspension in the wake of multiple offenses against the league's personal conduct policy, the option decision becomes even trickier for a player that is becoming an issue off the field.
