Derek Carr To Put On 'Full-Court Press' For Davante Adams In 2022

Jun 29, 2021 9:41 AM

Davante Adams won't be a free agent until next year, but Derek Carr is already preparing to recruit the wide receiver to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Adams and Carr were teammates at Fresno State.

"I've learned in this business, you never shut the door on anything," Carr said. "I know that he's obviously the best receiver -- everyone said one of the best, he's the best receiver in the NFL. The guy is unbelievable. He's been one of my best friends since we were in college together. I love the guy.

... "I would always welcome to play with him again. I think it would unlock some things in both of us that people haven't seen yet. I'm always open to that and I will be recruiting very hard. When that time comes, it will be a full-court press."

Aaron Rodgers Opt Out Unlikely By July 2 Deadline

Jun 28, 2021 5:22 PM

The deadline for players to opt out of the 2021 season is July 2, per an agreement between the NFL and the NFLPA.

While the option gives Aaron Rodgers the ability to sit out the coming season with zero financial obligations to the Green Bay Packers for not playing this year, the quarterback is unlikely to decide on his playing future by the deadline.

Packers 'Have One Plan' Regardless Of Quarterback

Jun 18, 2021 10:13 AM

The Green Bay Packers will approach the 2021 season with one plan regardless of who starts at quarterback.

If Aaron Rodgers' time with the Packers is truly done, they'll have to turn to Jordan Love.

"We'll have one plan," Matt LaFleur said. "We've kind of pretty much laid that out. Just going to fine-tune some things over the next few weeks in terms of the logistics of our schedule and whatnot. We've got what we feel is a pretty good blueprint in terms of how to get our guys ready to play. Obviously, it is a little bit different this year in terms of the number of preseason games and then you compare it to last year, so you're kind of leaning back on the 2019 season. We feel confident with what we'll have in place with the guys. We'll look forward to getting them back July 27."

The Packers don't know if Rodgers will end his holdout and return to the team after an offseason in which he has stayed away from all team activities.

Aaron Rodgers Enjoying Offseason Without 'Any Obligations'

Jun 15, 2021 1:56 PM

Tom Brady sarcastically asked Aaron Rodgers to comment on his “low-profile” and “peaceful” offseason including no controversies.

“It’s been one of those quiet offseasons you dream about,” Rodgers said with no hint of irony, “where you can kind of just go through your process on your own, quietly, and that’s all you can ask for as an older player in the league and someone who’s been around for a long time and just enjoys that time to yourself, just relax, to not be bothered, to not have any obligations or anything going on. You know, I think that’s what this offseason has been about. It’s been about really enjoying my time and spending it where I want to spend it not feeling like I have to go anywhere. but still be an NFL player at the same time. It’s been great.”

Rodgers has sought a trade from the Green Bay Packers this offseason.

Mark Murphy: Aaron Rodgers 'A Complicated Fella'

Jun 12, 2021 2:10 PM

Mark Murphy invoiced the late Ted Thompson as describing Aaron Rodgers as “a complicated fella.”

Speaking at an event at Lambeau Field, Murphy made a halting remark indicating that Thompson, who drafted Rodgers, considered Rodgers to be “complicated.”

“I’m often reminded though of Ted Thompson, as most of you know, just a great general manager, passed away this past year — excuse me, earlier this year, often talked about Aaron, that he’s a comp — and it wasn’t just Aaron, a lot of different players. He would say ‘He’s a complicated fella.’ So, I’ll just say that,” Murphy said, via NBC 26 in Green Bay.

Thompson died in January and therefore isn't here to explain what he meant.

In that same answer without a sense of self-awareness, Murphy said, “the less both sides say publicly, the better.”

Jordan Love 'Definitely' Ready To Start Week 1 For Packers If Needed

Jun 9, 2021 4:25 PM

Jordan Love said he will be ready to start for the Green Bay Packers for Week 1 should Aaron Rodgers not be with the team.

"A hundred percent," Love said when asked if he is prepared to be the Week 1 starter. "Obviously, this is a time where I'm getting a lot of extremely valuable reps that I might not have been getting in a normal circumstance. So I'm just going to take it day by day. ... But yeah, that's what I'm here for. I was drafted here to play quarterback, so I'll definitely be ready Week 1."

Green Bay selected Love with a first round pick in 2020.

Aaron Rodgers' Packers Teammates: We've Got His Back

Jun 9, 2021 4:26 PM

Two of Aaron Rodgers' most prominent teammates on the Green Bay Packers have issued public support for their quarterback amid his standoff with the team.

Davante Adams and David Bakhtiari threw their support behind Rodgers, while also making sure not to criticize the organization they're still bound to contractually.

"I've got his back through everything so he knows that, at the end of the day, if there's ever a wonder if he's lost a teammate or something because of all that's come out, he knows where I stand," Adams said. "I'll stand on the f---ing mountain and scream on the mountaintop that I've got his back."

Adams added that he doesn't think by siding with Rodgers that he's necessarily criticizing the organization.

"I think that any GM, any president, any owner, they should want the type of guys that are backing their players, especially a player like that," Adams said. "That's just a good trait to have. It's not like I'm saying, 'Forget the front office,' like I don't respect what they have going on."

Aaron Rodgers Won't Participate In Green Bay's Minicamp

Jun 8, 2021 3:53 PM

Aaron Rodgers is not expected to participate when the Green Bay Packers open minicamp on Tuesday. Rodgers  is subject to $93,085 in fines if he does not show for the entire three-day camp.

The Packers have discussed giving Rodgers an excused absence, which would then waive the fines. If they don't, then Rodgers would be fined $15,515 for missing Tuesday, $31,030 for Wednesday and $46,540 for Thursday.

Rodgers already has missed enough of the offseason program to forfeit his $500,000 workout bonus.

The Packers have been working to mend their relationship with Rodgers this offseason but no progress has been made.

News of Rodgers' unhappiness with the Packers became public April 29.

It has been more than a month since news of Rodgers' issues with the organization became public in a report.
