Aaron Rodgers Expects Quick Decision On Playing Future In Offseason

Dec 30, 2021 2:08 PM

Aaron Rodgers said he anticipates a quick resolution to his playing future this offseason. Rodgers left open the possibilities of returning to the Green Bay Packers, playing for another team, or retiring.

"It won't be something where I'll drag it out for months and months," Rodgers said at the end of a lengthy answer about his future.

"I'm not going to hold the team back from anything," Rodgers said. "And once I commit -- and if it's committing to move forward here -- it will be a quick decision."

Nearly a year ago, Rodgers called his future with the Packers a "beautiful mystery."

While Rodgers said he "wouldn't rule that out" when asked about retirement, he said: "This has been one of my favorite years of football."

"I think that I'm just enjoying this season for this season and I think playing next year will definitely be in the thought process," Rodgers said. "One of the things that obviously [Rodgers wants is] to not be a bum on the way out and to still be able to play. I think is important to me. If this year has taught me anything, it's that I still can play, I still have a love for the game, I'm still super competitive and still enjoy the process of the week."

Brett Favre Reminds Aaron Rodgers To 'Enjoy' Packers Records

Dec 22, 2021 10:08 AM

Aaron Rodgers' next touchdown pass will break Brett Favre's franchise record (442).

Rodgers and Favre exchanged text messages after Rodgers tied the team record during Sunday's win at the Baltimore Ravens, and Rodgers on Tuesday shared a piece of that conversation.

"The one thing I will say that he mentioned, which is one thing I've been really taking to heart the last couple of years, is he just said, 'Enjoy it because it goes by so fast and the next thing you know it's over,'" Rodgers said.

Said Favre a day earlier on SiriusXM NFL Radio: "He did shoot me a text, and it was very good. You know, Aaron's gonna shatter every record out there if he continues to play because he's just, he's better now than he's ever been and shows no signs of slowing down. Certainly makes that team so much better. Whether he goes to another team or not, he's gonna make whoever he plays with so much better. Just a prolific playmaker, probably the best playmaker I think we've ever seen."

Aaron Rodgers Says Injured Toe 'Feels Worse' After Win

Dec 13, 2021 8:21 AM

Aaron Rodgers beat the Chicago Bears for the sixth-straight time on Sunday night, but the Green Bay Packers quarterback wasn't feeling too well afterward.

Whatever healing took place with his fractured pinky toe during Green Bay's bye last week was wiped out.

"It feels worse," Rodgers said after Sunday's 45-30 win. "I don't know what kind of setback that I had tonight but we'll look at it tomorrow. Definitely took a step back tonight."

Rodgers suffered the injury last month during his COVID-19 quarantine and has barely practiced despite not missing any significant game action.

During the bye, Rodgers said surgery was an option and even though he was told it could be done without him missing a game, he elected not to have it.

Randall Cobb Has Core Muscle Surgery

Dec 10, 2021 9:15 AM

Randall Cobb required surgery for a core muscle injury suffered in the Green Bay Packers' last game before their bye, according to a source.

The Packers believe the wide receiver will miss several games, putting the rest of his season in jeopardy.

"Cobby's going to out for a while; he had a pretty significant injury," Matt LaFleur said. "That's unfortunate because I thought he has done such an amazing job when given the opportunity. We were talking about just his targets on third down alone."

The Packers traded a sixth-round pick to the Houston Texans in July to reunite Cobb with Aaron Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers Doesn't Regret Saying 'I Still Own' Bears

Dec 9, 2021 1:14 PM

Eight weeks after telling fans at Solider Field that he still owned the Chicago Bears, Aaron Rodgers said he doesn't regret his declaration.

Rodgers made headlines by yelling "I still own you!" after a touchdown run in Green Bay's victory.

"I don't know that you can question a whole lot of what I said," Rodgers said. "We have gotten the better of them the last, I don't know, 27, 28 times we've played them for the most part ... A lot of times in situations like this, the trash talk is only going to be used if you're getting after that individual that was trash-talking. So in order to trash-talk, you have to have a lot of confidence in what you accomplished and what you're going to accomplish in the future.

"At some point, what I said will be used against me -- that's just part of it. But I have no regrets for saying what I said, and obviously I think the record kinda speaks for itself. But I get it. At some point that will be used against me. It is what it is. I don't regret saying it at all."

Rodgers has won five straight against the Bears and is 22-5 overall as a starter against the Packers' NFC North rival.
