Aaron Rodgers Won't Have Toe Surgery During Bye Week

Nov 29, 2021 9:34 PM

Aaron Rodgers is expected to rest his fractured pinkie toe during the Green Bay Packers' bye week instead of having surgery.

Matt LaFleur said Monday that Rodgers is "gathering other opinions, so we'll see where that goes," but a source said those opinions are not expected to lead to surgery during the bye.

The Packers won't play until Dec. 13 against the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football.

NFL Network reported earlier on Monday that Rodgers does not plan to have surgery.

Odell Beckham Asked For More Money To Join Packers

Nov 28, 2021 8:03 AM

The Green Bay Packers were one of the final two teams considered by Odell Beckham Jr. but they didn't offer a lucrative enough contract.

The Packers only offered the veterans minimum plus incentives. The Packers were asked to increase their offer to Beckham on multiple occasions, but declined. Beckham instead picked the Los Angeles Rams.

"He wasn't going to take the same, or less money, to go to Green Bay [over Los Angeles]," one source familiar with the contract talks told ESPN.

Aaron Rodgers Clarifies Toe Fractured To Clear Up 'COVID Toe' Story

Nov 25, 2021 8:15 AM

Aaron Rodgers clarified that he has a fractured pinkie toe and not "COVID toe."

Rodgers revealed Wednesday that he has a fractured toe, one he suffered during workouts at home while preparing to return to the Packers for their Nov. 14 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Rodgers joked about "COVID toe" during a podcast appearance this week, which the Wall Street Journal took as fact.

"I'm glad you asked just so I could show you the lesions of my foot here, so if I have enough room on this camera, let me see if I can," Rodgers said as he lifted his left foot in front of the camera during his Zoom news conference. "Oh, oh there's no lesions whatsoever. Oh, what a surprise. No, that's actually called disinformation when you perpetuate false information about an individual. I have a fractured toe."

Nov 21, 2021 8:48 AM

Aaron Rodgers will likely play the remainder of the season with turf toe, which limited to only about 15 reps during Friday's practice.

The hope for the Green Bay Packers is that it will improve in time and with rest at the bye week.

Rodgers has thrown for 2,186 yards and 17 touchdowns this season with a completion percentage of 66.4 while the Packers have posted an 8-1 record in games he's played.

Packers To Offer Rare Sale Of 'Ownership' Shares

Nov 16, 2021 9:08 AM

The Green Bay Packers are offering shares of "ownership" for just the sixth time in franchise history and the first time in 10 years.

The stock, which will be sold for $300, will have no value, pay no dividend and allow no say in team matters.

The early stock sales (1923, 1935 and 1950) were done out of necessity to keep the team afloat financially. Additional stock sales followed in 1997 and 2011 to raise money for stadium expansion and projects.

The NFL allows the Packers to periodically conduct such sales to make up for the fact that the team has no deep-pockets owner who can invest into the franchise.

Packers Believe Aaron Jones Suffered Sprained MCL

Nov 15, 2021 8:53 AM

Aaron Jones left the Green Bay Packers' 17-0 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday with a right knee injury.

The team believes Jones suffered a sprained MCL, according to a source.

If tests confirm the injury, the running back would miss time but could potentially return before the end of the regular season.

The Packers signed Jones to a four-year, $48 million deal in March.

Odell Beckham Interested In Signing With Packers, Chiefs, Saints

After going unclaimed on waivers, Odell Beckham, Jr. has "prioritized" the Green Bay Packers as his top destination, according to a report.

Beckham had just 17 catches for 232 yards and zero touchdowns in six games for the Cleveland Browns this season.

Another report stated that the New England Patriots have been in touch with the wide receiver's camp.

Dianna Russini reports that Beckham is considering the Packers, Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints.

Packers Fined For COVID-19 Rules Violations

Nov 9, 2021 10:32 PM

The Green Bay Packers have received a $300,000 fine for their violation of COVID-19 protocols. Aaron Rodgers and Allen Lazard were each fined $14,650.

The violations included the unvaccinated Rodgers not wearing a mask during his news conferences and because the team did not report that Rodgers and Lazard attended a Halloween party, even though it was away from the team facility.

The investigation also included a review of video from inside the club facility and found a few isolated instances of Rodgers and Lazard failing to wear a mask in the facility.

The investigation began last week after Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

Matt LaFleur Takes Blame For Jordan Love's Struggles

Nov 8, 2021 8:58 AM

Jordan Love struggled against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon, but afterward Matt LaFleur took the blame.

The second-year quarterback was making his first career start with Aaron Rodgers at home due to a positive COVID-19 test.

"This one falls on me, squarely," LaFleur said. "Certainly, for us to be 2-for-12 on third down, obviously didn't have a good enough plan for some of the zero pressures that they brought on us.

"But I thought our guys battled. I thought Jordan, I was really proud of the way he played. He hung in there, he was taking hits and delivering the ball. I thought he did a really good job. But I think that, ultimately, I've got to be better and this one falls squarely on me."

The Packers were in danger of being shut out for the first time in LaFleur's tenure until Love finally put together a scoring drive, hitting Allen Lazard for a 20-yard touchdown with 4 minutes, 54 seconds remaining.

Aaron Rodgers Claims He Didn't Lie About Vaccine Status

Nov 5, 2021 9:52 PM

Aaron Rodgers claims he didn't lie about his vaccination status and has followed almost all protocols for unvaccinated players. Rodgers also explained his reasoning for not getting vaccinated for COVID-19.

In a 46-minute appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers said he is allergic to an ingredient in two of the three approved vaccines -- the ones produced by Moderna and Pfizer, known as mRNA vaccines.

Rodgers underwent a treatment designed to raise his immunity and appealed to the NFL to be considered vaccinated but lost that appeal.

"I believe strongly in bodily autonomy and the ability to make choices for your body, not to have to acquiesce to some woke culture or crazed group of individuals who say you have to do something," Rodgers said during a lengthy rebuttal to what he suggested was misinformation reported over the past several days. "Health is not a one-size-fits-all for everybody and for me it involved a lot of study in the offseason."

When asked in August whether he was vaccinated, Rodgers said, "Yeah, I've been immunized."

"First of all, I didn't lie in the initial press conference," Rodgers said Friday. "During that time, it was a witch hunt that was going on across the league, where everybody in the media was so concerned about who was vaccinated and who wasn't and what that meant and who was being selfish and who would talk about it, what it meant if they said it's a personal decision and they shouldn't have to disclose their own medical information.

"And at the time, my plan was to say that I have been immunized. It wasn't some sort of ruse or lie. It was the truth, and I'll get into the whole immunization in a second. But had there been a follow-up to my statement that I've been immunized, I would have responded with this: I would have said, 'Look, I'm not some sort of anti-vax, flat-Earther. I am somebody who's a critical thinker.'"

Rodgers said he's taking ivermectin, zinc and monoclonal treatments.

"You know, my desire to immunize myself was what was best for my body, and that's why this is so important to me," Rodgers said. "My medical team advising me that the danger of an adverse event [to a vaccine] was greater than the risk of getting COVID and recovering. So I made a decision that was in the best interest of my body."
