Packers To Leave Cobb On Special Teams Despite Injury

Sep 13, 2014 3:24 AM

The Green Bay Packers will leave Randall Cobb as the team's kick and punt returner in spite of an ankle injury.

Cobb was injured when tackled returning a punt on Sunday.

Cobb leads the Packers in receiving.

"I'll be honest with you: I don't have a really high tolerance for this (line of questioning) because I don't understand how you play scared in the game of football. I don't get that," Mike McCarthy said. "I think it's convenient questioning. I understand the risk involved in every single play. Some plays are higher risk than others, and I'm fully aware of that.

"But you can't sit here and say special teams is important if you don't put a guy like Randall Cobb out there as a returner. Now, if we're sitting here next year, we might be having a different conversation. But the way our team is built for 2012, Randall Cobb is a huge part of our success on special teams."

Woodson Hopes To Return To Packers In 2013

Aug 22, 2014 10:07 PM

Charles Woodson is optimistic he will return this season from a broken collarbone.

Additionally, Woodson plans to return to the Green Back Packers in 2013.

“Until somebody tells me I’m not, this is where I plan on playing,” said Woodson, who is under contract through 2014. “I haven’t had that conversation. If that conversation comes around, it comes around, but as far as I know is, anything that I expect is that I’ll be a Green Bay Packer. That’s all I have to say about that.”

Crosby Drops Below 60 Percent, Packers Still Won't Make Change

Sep 13, 2014 3:24 AM

Mason Crosby is kicking at a success rate of 58.6 percent with his next closest peer being David Akers at 71.4 percent.

Crosby has missed at least one field in goal in each of the past six games, including two from inside 45 yards against the Bears.

"We're not changing our kicker, so you can write that down right now," McCarthy said. "He's our guy. He needs to make those kicks. He knows that. We're at that time of year."

Clay Matthews To Return For First Time In Four Weeks

Sep 2, 2014 10:33 AM

The Green Bay Packers expect Clay Matthews to return for the first time in four games.

"I thought he looked good all week," Mike McCarthy said Friday after the Packers held their last practice before the game. "I look for Clay to play and make an impact in the game."

Matthews has had a recurring hamstring injury.

"It's different speed when you're out there at game speed, but I think he's had a good week of practice building up, so I'm anxious to see him out there playing," defensive coordinator Dom Capers said.
