Aaron Rodgers Misses Practice With Knee Injury

Dec 29, 2022 8:33 AM

The Green Bay Packers held Aaron Rodgers out of practice on Wednesday with a left knee injury.

A few Miami Dolphins defenders landed on Rodgers in the second quarter of Sunday's game.

"I got a lot of body weight on my knee," Rodgers said. "Had some extra flexion I haven't known for the last 20 years. So just been doing rehab the last few days and feeling a lot better."

Rodgers said he expected to practice this week, possibly on Thursday, in advance of Sunday's must-win game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Elgton Jenkins, Packers Agree To Four-Year, $68M Extension

Dec 23, 2022 11:04 AM

Elgton Jenkins and the Green Bay Packers have agreed to a four-year, $68 million contract extension. The deal could be worth up to $74 million with incentives and keep him with the Packers through the 2026 season.

If he stays at guard, he will be the second-highest paid at the position behind only the Colts' Quenton Nelson ($20 million per year). If Jenkins moves to left tackle where he did last season in place of David Bakhtiari, he would be among the top-10 highest paid.

Jenkins would have become a free agent in March.

Aaron Rodgers: 'Things Are Looking Up'

Dec 20, 2022 9:21 AM

Coming off two straight wins, Aaron Rodgers believes the Green Bay Packers have fully put their five-game midseason losing streak behind them.

Once 4-8, the Packers are still alive in the NFC playoff picture with three games left.

"Well, it's three now," Rodgers said. "We've got two. Got two in the bag. I don't know. Look, before the Bears week, we knew we had a bye afterwards, and those of us who sometimes peek ahead knew that we had to win five and then have a lot of things go our way. So, we've won two and just about everything we needed to happen has gone our way. Just about, right? So, things are looking up."

ESPN Analytics gives the Packers a 12.2% chance to make the playoffs.

Packers Say They Want Aaron Rodgers Back Next Season

Dec 6, 2022 8:49 AM

The Green Bay Packers insist they want Aaron Rodgers back next season.

Rodgers, 39, signed a three-year, $150 million contract last March that runs through the 2024 season. It contained a $58.3 million guaranteed bonus for next season that would only void if he retired.

"Well, certainly that's an offseason-type kind of decision, but surely, yeah," Brian Gutekunst said when asked if he wants Rodgers back next season. "I mean we want all our guys back. We made a big commitment to him this offseason, so that was obviously something that was really important to us. But like we've talked about in the past, this is something we'll sit down with him after the season and it will be something we do together and move forward that way."

Rodgers' contract would it make it difficult to trade or release him because of the massive amounts of dead money that would impact the salary cap.

Matt LaFleur didn't hesitate to say, "Yeah, absolutely, of course," when asked Monday if he wanted Rodgers back.

Aaron Rodgers 'Open' To Shutting It Down If Asked

Dec 1, 2022 8:37 AM

Aaron Rodgers is open to the idea of shutting himself down for the remainder of the season if the Green Bay Packers are eliminated from playoff contention.

Rodgers will start on Sunday against the Chicago Bears despite dealing with thumb and rib injuries.

Green Bay is on the edge of playoff contention at 4-8.

"Look, I'd love to finish the season out, but I understand this is a business and there's a lot of us kind of older guys who play a decent amount and they might want to see some younger guys play," Rodgers said.

"Hopefully we don't have to have that conversation. But if that conversation comes up, I'll approach that with an open mind and without any bitterness or resentment. Obviously, like I said, I want to win out and we don't have to have those conversations. I understand if we don't that's a possibility to have that conversation."
