RG3 Prefers To Be Compared To Super Bowl Winners Than Newton

Jul 8, 2014 2:08 PM

Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins will face Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Griffin has sometimes been compared to Newton, who is a mobile quarterback in his second NFL season.

"I’d rather be compared to an Aaron Rodgers or a guy like that," said Griffin when asked about the Newton comparisons. "Someone who has won Super Bowls."

DeAngelo Hall Ejected For Berating Official

Oct 31, 2014 11:41 AM

DeAngelo Hall was ejected from the Washington Redskins' loss to the Steelers for berating an official with an obscenity-laced tirade.

In the final minutes of the fourth quarter, Hall wrestled Emmanuel Sanders at the end of a play. Head linesman Dana Mckenzie broke up the fight, but Hall then began yelling in his face.

Officials gave Hall two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

After the game, Hall refused to discuss the specifics of the incident.

“Any questions on the football aspect of the game? I’m not going to discuss that particular play,” Hall said in front of his locker. “I’ve got a meeting scheduled with Commissioner [Roger] Goodell on Monday, me and him will talk about it, watch the film and figure out what went down, get to the bottom of this.”

Redskins Creating 'East Coast Offense' To Fit RG3

Jun 3, 2014 1:55 AM

The Washington Redskins have lined up in a variety of looks offensively to maximize the effectiveness of Robert Griffin III.

The Redskins will run zone-read options with high frequency, but have also used the triple-option and the pistol. Mike Shanahan has also used the traditional offensive attack from his time with the Broncos and 49ers.

The Redskins even used the wishbone on occasion last week.

The Redskins have the third most yards and second most points.

“Our game plans are pretty dense, and we have many things we can do with it," said Griffin. "If they’re going to shut down one thing, we can go at them with another thing.”

“Every place I have been, everybody says, ‘What do you call this offense?’ [ESPN columnist Rick Reilly had asked me and he wanted a name, so I said, ‘Call it the east Coast Offense’," said Shanahan. "I get tired of answering the question, to be honest with you. I’m not sure what the name of the offense is, but we’re just experimenting with what Robert can do, and we are having fun with it. Hopefully we can keep executing.”
