The Washington Commanders will start Carson Wentz this week against the Cleveland Browns.

Wentz will start in place of Taylor Heinicke in Week 17 as the Commanders fight for a playoff berth.

Wentz started the first six games this season before breaking his right ring finger in an Oct. 13 win over the Chicago Bears. Heinicke started the next nine games, leading the team to a 5-3-1 record.

The Commanders have ranked 26th in red zone offense and 20th in points per game over his eight full starts.

Daniel Snyder has received offers for the Washington Commanders "well north" of $7 billion, according to a Forbes report.

It's believed that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos will make a bid, but it's unclear if he's submitted an offer.

Roger Goodell said Wednesday he does not have any "expectations" regarding a potential sale of the Washington Commanders franchise.

"(Commanders owner) Dan (Snyder)'s statement that he put out (in early November) was that he was exploring that," Goodell said. "We'll continue to work with him on that."

Goodell added that there was no discussion among ownership on Wednesday regarding a potential sale of the team.

Dan and Tanya Snyder previously announced on Nov. 2 that they had hired Bank of America Securities to "consider potential transactions."

Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder "permitted and participated" in the team's longtime toxic work culture and obstructed a 14-month congressional inquiry by dodging a subpoena, working to dissuade and intimidate witnesses from cooperating, and claiming more than 100 times in testimony that he could not recall answers to basic questions, according to the final report of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Reform.

The NFL has flexed the New York Giants versus Washington Commanders game in Week 15 to Sunday Night Football to replace the previously scheduled game between the Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots.

Both the Giants and Commanders are in the Wild Card chase in the NFC.
