Report: Redskins Willing To Deal Multiple Picks To Rams For No. 2

Aug 16, 2014 6:44 AM

The Rams will field offers for the second overall pick in April's NFL Draft and the Redskins appear very interested. Washington is reportedly willing to give up a significant bundle of picks in order to move up to the No. 2 pick. The Washington Post has reported, citing multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, the Redskins are willing to trade two first-round picks (this year's No. 6 selection and next year's No. 1) in addition to a number of mid- to late-round picks to move up to select quarterback Robert Griffin.

McNabb: Peyton, Redskins Would Be Poor Fit

Oct 31, 2014 4:24 PM

Donovan McNabb doesn't think the Redskins should sign Peyton Manning if the quarterback becomes available. "Peyton's not gonna go there," McNabb said recently on ESPN Radio's John Thompson Show. "I don't see Peyton ending up in Washington. Because what happens is now, you're bringing in another veteran who will be 35 36, who has been in one offense throughout his career. It's the same situation. "Now he comes over, and as they say now, Peyton is such an offensive coordinator on the offense. So now what does that do to your offensive coordinator? Does he step down? Does he step back? Does he begin to change the whole offense according to the play of the quarterback that he has in Peyton Manning? Well, I didn't see that happen, so I definitely don't see that happening for Peyton." McNabb had a horrible tenure with Washington after the team acquired him in a trade with the Eagles in 2010. McNabb and Mike Shanahan did not work well together, and the result was a 6-10 season. "You know what, as I look back on that year, I was very excited on joining the Washington Redskins," McNabb said. "I loved Dan Snyder, I love his attitude and his approach. I loved Bruce Allen and what he was trying to do. Situations were a lot different once I got there, with coaching and play calling and things of that nature, where it wasn’t suited around the talent of your quarterback."

Grossman Hopes To Stay With Redskins

May 18, 2014 11:08 PM

Having appeared in 13 games for the team last season, Rex Grossman hopes to remain with the Redskins. He threw for 3,151 yards, 16 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. "I definitely like the situation," Grossman said on SiriusXM Radio. "I like playing for a team that has that much history and tradition and a fan base that cares that much and a coaching staff that is determined to get this thing right and an offense that I feel like suits me. A dream scenario for me would be to go back there and play consistently and play the way that I always thought I could for a whole season. That would be the dream scenario, but I also know that I've got to do what's best for myself and take the best opportunity that's out there. So we'll see what happens March 13."

Theismann: Redskins Signing Manning Would Be 'Horrific Idea'

May 18, 2014 11:01 PM

Former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann isn't at all excited about the possibility that the team could court Peyton Manning this offseason. "It's not a good idea, it's not a bad idea -- It's a horrific idea," he told 106.7 last week via DC SportsBog. "It would be one of the poorest things that we could do as a franchise. Are we gonna go find another guy for just a couple of years again? Haven't we done this before? Haven't we seen this act before? And by the way, if you get Peyton Manning, don't you have a concern about protecting him? Don't you have a concern about who he throws the football to?"

Redskins Want London Fletcher To Return

Jul 13, 2014 9:50 AM

The Redskins have begun preparing for the 2012 season and they want to make sure their defensive leader returns. Fletcher joined Washington as a free agent in 2007. The defender has expressed interest in staying with the team past this season. Washington head coach Mike Shanahan echoed his interest in retaining the middle linebacker, and now general manager Bruce Allen has offered his endorsement behind getting a deal done. "We want to, we want to–and he wants to come back," Allen said. "We're just waiting for the season to finish, and then we're gonna take care of business. "He's a captain. We want our captain back."
