Sep 22, 2023 4:05 PM

The San Francisco 49ers have signed Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch to multi-year contract extensions.

The duo joined the 49ers in February of 2017 and have since led the organization to the postseason three times, claimed two NFC West division titles (2019 & 2022), reached three NFC Championship games (2019 & 2021-22) and a trip to Super Bowl LIV.

Shanahan and Lynch previously signed extensions in 2020 that ran through 2024.

CMC Isn't Worried About Heavy Workload With 49ers

Sep 20, 2023 8:26 AM

The San Francisco 49ers have relied heavily on Christian McCaffrey to begin the season, but the running back isn't concerned.

Through two weeks, McCaffrey has taken 91.7% of running back snaps.

"I think it's all dependent on how the game's going," McCaffrey said. "We had a lot of breaks last game. Sometimes, that's just how it goes. There's gonna be games, too, where Mitchell gets four or five carries in a row on multiple drives because he's playing well, and he's feeling it, and I'll be out. It's really such a situational thing. Ya know, I don't think it's ever a plan for us to get all the carries or not. It's just sometimes that's just how the games go."

Sunday marked the first time McCaffrey had played 100 percent of the snaps since Week 15 of 2019 with the Carolina Panthers.

49ers' Nick Bosa: 'Purdy Shut Some Haters Up (Today)'

Sep 10, 2023 8:38 PM

Exactly six months ago, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy underwent surgery on the torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. The Niners and Purdy entered that day uncertain about when the former "Mr. Irrelevant" would return to football and, when he did, how he would fare.

On Sunday at Acrisure Stadium, Purdy offered answers to both questions in San Francisco's resounding 30-7 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"Purdy shut some haters up [today]," defensive end Nick Bosa said. "I think whenever a guy comes back from an injury, people kind of don't expect him to make another leap in the second year, I'm just happy for him. He's exactly who we thought he was."
