The San Francisco 49ers don't know for sure when Brock Purdy will be ready to play football, but both the quarterback and Kyle Shanahan are optimistic about a Week 1 return.

"We're hoping for Week 1 and we feel pretty optimistic about that," Shanahan said. "That's what we're hoping for. ... Usually you've got to come back before that to make that goal and that's kind of the goal we're hoping for and don't have any reason to think different."

Purdy had the torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow repaired March 10 after suffering the injury in the NFC Championship Game on Jan. 29.

Initial estimates for a timeline were five to seven months but the Niners have maintained all along that they will have a better idea on a return date once Purdy begins a throwing program at the 12-week mark.

He will hit the 12-week mark on June 2.

The NFL is expected to award Super Bowl LX to Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara next week.

The game will be played in February 2026 and will be televised by NBC.

Last month, Rams COO Kevin Demoff said SoFi Stadium will pursue Super Bowl LXI in early 2027, clearing the way for Levi’s Stadium to secure the game.

Levi’s Stadium hosted Super Bowl 50.

Super Bowl LXIII will be played in Las Vegas, and Super Bowl LIX will be played in New Orleans.

The NFL has announced that the Philadelphia Eagles will host the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13 in a rematch of the NFC Championship Game.

With the game in December, there's a chance some of the heat from last year's title game will have dissipated.

Several 49ers maintain they would have won this past January's title game if Brock Purdy hadn't gotten hurt.

Immediately following surgery, Purdy's timeline had him beginning to throw in early June. San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch confirmed that the quarterback is on pace to hit that mark.

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-7 in this year's NFC Championship Game, but Deebo Samuel says the better team didn't win.

Samuel says that there is "no question" the 49ers were the better team and that they would have won if Brock Prudy hadn't suffered an elbow injury.

"We lost because we played with 10 people," Samuel told Complex.

Samuel also said the Eagles are his "most hated team" and that he's sick of hearing people say the Eagles were better than the 49ers last year or will be better than them this year.
