Ryan Tannehill Kicks Rookie RB Out Of Huddle After Missed Assignment

Aug 13, 2018 8:43 AM

Ryan Tannehill yelled at Miami Dolphins rookie running back Kalen Ballage and kicked him out of the huddle after the running back missed a blocking assignment during practice on Sunday.

The missed assignment had resulted in a clean sack on Tannehill. The quarterback temporarily stopped practice to show his displeasure with Ballage.

"I would have been upset if I was him because he knows what the result in a game would have been. It would have been painful for him, for sure," Adam Gase said of Tannehill. "He was in the right, kind of making an example there. When he does things like that for our offense, it's a good thing."

Ballage didn't take the chewing out personally and said he understands he still has things to learn about the Dolphins' scheme.

NFL Releases Statement After Three Dolphins Protest During Anthem

Aug 9, 2018 11:26 PM

Kenny Stills and two other Miami Dolphins protested during the national anthem on Thursday.

Stills and Albert Wilson kneeled behind teammates while Robert Quinn stood and raised his right fist.

The NFL released a statement during the game, reaffirming that last year's policy, which allows kneeling with no discipline, is in place.

"There has been no change in the NFL's policy regarding the national anthem," league spokesman Brian McCarthy said in the statement. "The anthem will continue to be played before every game, and all player and non-player personnel on the field at that time are expected to stand during the presentation of the flag and performance of the anthem. Personnel who do not wish to do so can choose to remain in the locker room.

"We remain committed to working with the players to identify solutions and to continue making progress on important social issues affecting our communities.''
