Cowboys' Ireland To Interview For Miami GM Job

Sep 15, 2014 10:53 AM

Bill Parcells is wasting no time in reworking the Dolphins' front office. Shortly after firing GM Randy Mueller and a pair of his assistants, Parcells received permission from the Cowboys to interview Jeff Ireland to be the team's new GM, FOXSports.com has learned. Dolphins' sources say that Ireland, the Cowboys' VP of College and Pro Scouting, is expected to interview for the job tomorrow. FOX Sports first reported during the week of Parcells' hiring that Ireland would be his primary target, but there was a question about whether he could get him out before the draft. However, to Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones' credit, he granted permission for the interview despite having Ireland locked up contractually through the draft.

Dolphins' Taylor: 'I Want To Win'

Oct 23, 2014 10:49 PM

Dolphins' defensive end Jason Taylor didn't have too many answers Sunday evening - not about his future, not about his coach, not about the team's prospects. The Dolphins fell to 1-15 after being soundly beaten by the Cincinnati Bengals 38-25 in the season finale, and Taylor conceded it might have been his last game with the team that drafted him in 1997. Walking off the field for the last game today, obviously, was on my mind," said Taylor, 33. "I thought about it. If it is, I'll obviously miss it a lot." The emotion of the game still fresh in his mind, Taylor wouldn't say if he wanted to come back to the Dolphins. "I don't know," he said. "I can't answer that question right now. I'd like to win." What it would take to turn around the Dolphins, Taylor couldn't say. "Win right now? That's a tough question to answer," Taylor said. "This team is not set up right now to be a championship-caliber football team."

Miami's Cameron Kicked Traylor Off Team

Aug 3, 2014 4:31 PM

If Keith Traylor's career is over, it ended on a sour note. The Dolphins banished the starting defensive tackle for the season's final game, the result of an argument he had with teammates on the flight back from New England last week. According to two sources, the fight was with offensive linemen Rex Hadnot and Vernon Carey. Traylor, 38, did not practice last week, and the team listed him on its injury report with an ankle ailment. Cam Cameron met with Traylor on Monday,; they argued; and the coach kicked him off the team, one of the sources said. Teammates pleaded his case, and the team invited him to return but with a fine. Traylor refused.

According to the report, a source also said it would be "a big, big surprise," if first-year coach Cam Cameron is retained.

Parcells At Practice On First Day With Dolphins

Jun 18, 2014 4:52 PM

Bill Parcells reported to his new job and quickly put aside one theory about what ails the Miami Dolphins. It turns out they really do practice. Parcells was on the field for Thursday's workout and a firsthand look at the NFL's worst team. He signed a four-year contract last week to become Executive Vice President of Football Operations. "When he walked out, everybody noticed," defensive tackle Vonnie Holliday said. "There was a whisper here and there." As a coach, Parcells took over losing teams with the New York Giants, New England Patriots, New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys and transformed them into winners. He won five division titles in 19 seasons and led the Giants to two Super Bowl championships.

Parcells Wants Jason Taylor To Stay

May 18, 2014 4:51 AM

Bill Parcells, the Dolphins' newly named Executive Vice President of Football Operations, isn't ready to decide on the fate of first-year Coach Cam Cameron or General Manager Randy Mueller, but Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Taylor is another matter. "My idea would be to keep the good players we have and try to collect some more," Parcells said during an interview on ESPN's Monday Night Countdown in his last night as an analyst. "And I think Jason Taylor has been a pretty good player in Miami." Parcells said he's flying to team headquarters Thursday morning and hopes to meet with Cameron and Mueller before attending practice if the timing is right. Parcells said there's no timetable for his decision on either man, but that he just wants "to be right. ... I'm just going to go down there ... and see what they have to say and what their opinions are on why things are the way they are and just listen and collect information."

Cameron Avoids Talking About Parcells

Oct 3, 2014 10:36 PM

Dolphins' Coach Cam Cameron won't talk about his team's new executive vice president of football operations, or speak his name around reporters. During his press conference Monday, Cameron carefully danced around reporters' inquiries about Bill Parcells, who signed a four-year contract with the 1-14 Dolphins last week. He tiptoed through several questions about Miami's latest hire without ever mentioning Parcells by name.

Miami Dolphins' linebacker Channing Crowder will miss the rest of the season because of an injured right knee. His roster spot was filled by quarterback Casey Bramlet leading to Sunday's game against undefeated New England. Crowder, sidelined the previous two games, was placed on injured reserve Saturday. He led the Dolphins with 78 tackles. Bramlet spent time with Cincinnati, Washington and Atlanta before being signed to the Dolphins' practice squad Sept. 19. He led Hamburg to this year's NFL Europa championship and has never thrown a pass in an NFL game.

Parcells Intends To Draft Players With 'Passion'

May 18, 2014 4:43 AM

Miami's new executive vice president of football operations, Bill Parcells, said on Friday he wants to bring in dedicated players to the onetime NFL power. Speaking in an interview on ESPN Radio Primetime, Parcells said he intends to look to draft players marked by a deep "passion for football" for the team that has lost 13 out of 14 games. "If football is not their most important thing to them other than their immediate family, then I'm probably not going to be interested in them," Parcells said Friday. "That's the why I am. And I want people around me that are like that." The Dolphins likely will have the No. 1 pick in next year's draft, and the franchise is in the midst of its longest postseason drought, six years and counting. Even before Parcells' hiring, Miami's roster already seemed certain for an offseason overhaul.
