Matthew Stafford Has No Plans To Retire This Offseason

Dec 21, 2022 8:41 AM

Matthew Stafford says the spinal cord contusion that landed him on injured reserve won't force him into retirement.

In an interview on "The Morning After" podcast, hosted by his wife, Kelly, the quarterback was asked whether he is going to retire.

"No," Stafford said.

Earlier in the month, Sean McVay said he doesn't expect Stafford to need offseason surgery for his neck injury.

"He'll be good," McVay said. "To my knowledge, there's nothing like that that's going to be required or necessary. And it will be great for Matthew to have a healthy offseason and do a lot of the things that I think he'll feel good about being able to do."

Rams Eliminated From Playoff Contention

Dec 20, 2022 9:26 AM

The Los Angeles Rams were eliminated from playoff contention with Monday night's loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Sean McVay called "a very humbling season."

The Rams are 4-10 after winning Super Bowl LVI in February.

"I think it's hard to say that you could," McVay said when asked if he could see this coming. "You certainly can't, but this is the reality that we're in, and this is where we're at. ... My job is to focus on [finishing] up the season with the right competitive spirit, with the mindset and mentality that's reflective of who those guys are in the locker room and who those coaches are. And that's what we'll do.

"But there's been a lot of things that I've kind of thought about that I think you can make sense of why you've gotten here, but it still doesn't make it any easier. And it's a very humbling season, for sure."

Bobby Wagner Won't Face Charges For Tackling Protester

Dec 9, 2022 8:53 AM

Bobby Wagner won't face criminal charges for tackling a man who ran onto the field during the Los Angeles Rams' Oct. 3 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

The incident occurred late in the first half of San Francisco's 24-9 win over the Rams at Levi's Stadium.

Alexander Taylor ran on the field with a pink smoke bomb as part of an animal rights protest. With security struggling to corral him, Wagner stepped in to help and knocked Taylor down so security could detain him.

Baker Mayfield Booked Flight To L.A. Before Rams Claimed Him

Dec 9, 2022 8:48 AM

After leading the Los Angeles Rams to a comeback win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night, Baker Mayfield said he had a hunch the team would claim him.

Released by the Carolina Panthers on Monday, Mayfield was claimed the Los Angeles just two days before they faced the Raiders.

"I took a gamble, I booked the flight before the waiver wire went through," Mayfield said.

Mayfield completed 22 of 35 passes for 230 yards and the game-winning touchdown despite not knowing the Rams' full offense.

Baker Mayfield Leads Rams To Comeback Win Over Raiders

Dec 9, 2022 2:02 AM

Not long after Baker Mayfield led the Los Angeles Rams to a 17-16 comeback victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night, Sean McVay stood at the podium and laughed.

"Just like we drew it up," McVay said.

The Rams won the game to snap their six-game losing streak in spectacular fashion, led by Mayfield, who was playing two days after he was claimed off waivers. Mayfield came off the bench after Los Angeles' first series, replacing starting quarterback John Wolford.

Jared Goff says he's playing the best football of his career.

Goff helped lead the Los Angeles Rams to Super Bowl LIII, but insists his play with the Detroit Lions this year has been better.

"I feel like I am playing the best football of my career right now," he said.

"I've played a lot of good football in my career, but I feel as comfortable as I've ever felt," Goff said. "I'm getting older, I'm understanding the game more and it's just everything coming together a little bit."
