Rams' Jackson Will Play Through Pain

Jul 12, 2014 12:04 AM

Rams running back Steven Jackson has played four games without practicing due to back pain. With two games left in the season, Jackson doesn't see why he can't play through two more. "It's been whispered in my ear and that's from people on my side looking out for best of my future," Jackson said. "But I love to play and we only have two games to play, so I'm just going to gut it out." St. Louis is 1-13 this season.

Steven Jackson Among Rams With Flu

Jul 12, 2014 12:00 AM

The Rams may not have running back Steven Jackson on Sunday against the Texans. Jackson was among four players that were at home on Friday with what St. Louis coach Steve Spagnuolo called illness or flu-like symptoms. "Some guys that are a little worse than others, you need to shut 'em down," Spagnuolo said. "There's coaches probably battling a cough and a sneeze, just like we all do. But whatever the doctors and trainers say, we just go that way." Also missing Friday's practice were quarterback Kyle Boller, defensive tackle Darell Scott and wide receiver Brandon Gibson.

Bills guard Richie Incognito has been fined $50,000 by the NFL for his actions in last week's Rams-Titans game. Incognito was claimed off waivers from St. Louis earlier this week. He was benched in the second half of the 47-7 loss after two unnecessary roughness penalties, both of which were for head-butting. "Future infractions of the types you have committed may lead to increased disciplinary action up to and including suspension," stated a letter from NFL executive vice president of football operations Ray Anderson to Incognito.

Swine Flu Forces Rams To Cancel Practice

Jul 12, 2014 12:10 AM

The St. Louis Rams canceled practice Thursday due to an undisclosed number of swine flu cases on the team. Steve Spagnuolo would not say how many players had the illness but said five or six players had flulike symptoms, and added that other players had reported symptoms the last few weeks. He anticipated the Rams would return to practice on Friday with a workout that will incorporate some of the elements missed on Thursday. "It's really more of a precaution than anything," Spagnuolo said. "We're checking everybody, we're just being careful."
