Rams Cut Chris Long, James Laurinaitis, Jared Cook

Feb 19, 2016 8:19 PM

The Los Angeles Rams have cut Chris Long, James Laurinaitis and Jared Cook.

"This is the time of year when all NFL teams are faced with difficult decisions regarding their veteran players," Rams coach Jeff Fisher said in a statement.

"Chris and James are the epitome of what it means to be a pro in this league and it's been an honor to coach them both. They've been the pillars of our defense for many years and not enough can be said of their love for the game and for their teammates. Beyond the field, they took pride in mentoring the younger players and doing their part to make a real difference in the St. Louis community. We will always be grateful for James and Chris' unselfish commitment to the Rams and wish them the best moving forward."

The trio of cuts will save the Rams a combined $24.375 million in salary-cap space for 2016.

Rams Interested In Signing Peyton Manning

Feb 4, 2016 6:11 PM

The Los Angeles Rams have held internal discussions about signing Peyton Manning should he decide he'd like to play another season.

Manning remains under contract with the Broncos for 2016, but most around the NFL expect him not to return to the franchise.

Manning could finish his career in Southern California just as Johnny Unitas did with the Chargers in 1973 and Joe Namath did with the Rams in 1977.

Jeff Fisher said at his season-ending news conference that Case Keenum is the team's starter entering the offseason and Nick Foles and Sean Mannion will be around to compete.
