Cowboys Trade For Brandin Cooks From Texans

Mar 19, 2023 2:06 PM

Wanting to add speed and a complement to Pro Bowler CeeDee Lamb, the Dallas Cowboys acquired Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks on Sunday for a fifth-round pick in 2023 and a sixth-round pick in 2024.

The trade for Cooks likely takes the Cowboys out of the competition for free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., a team source told ESPN's Ed Werder.

"Hard to do Cooks and OBJ," the source said.

Cowboys Rework Dak Prescott, Zack Martin Deals To Free Up $30M

Mar 10, 2023 2:20 PM

The Dallas Cowboys have reworked the contracts of Dak Prescott and Zack Martin in order to create about $30 million in cap space.

Dallas was expected to be about $18 million over the cap, which means restructured deals for the quarterback and right guard not only get them under the cap but also give them the space to sign players.

Prescott is in the third year of a four-year, $160 million deal. He was set to make $31 million in base salary this year with a $49.13 salary cap figure.

Cowboys Place Franchise Tag On Tony Pollard

Mar 7, 2023 8:29 AM

The Dallas Cowboys have placed their franchise tag on Tony Pollard.

The 2023 franchise tender for a running back is worth $10.09 million, which immediately counts against the Cowboys' salary cap whether he signs the tender immediately or not.

Dallas would still like to sign Pollard to a long-term extension. If they are unable to reach an agreement by July 15, Pollard would have to play the season on the tag.

Jerry Jones: Won't 'Get Discouraged' By Super Bowl Drought

Mar 4, 2023 2:26 AM

Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones' arrival at the NFL scouting combine Friday was delayed because of poor weather, but he still spoke on the team bus for more than an hour.

The Cowboys are now 27 seasons removed from their last Super Bowl after losing in the playoffs for the second straight year to the 49ers in January, but he is not fixated on the championship drought; just the quest to get it done in 2023.

"I don't get discouraged when you say, 'You haven't been to a Super Bowl in X years,'" Jones said. "I do not do that because I could've won the last five and still might not get to another Super Bowl and I ought to be working my butt off to get to the next Super Bowl as if I had lost five or four. That's reality."
