Felix To Miss Sunday's Game

Oct 26, 2014 2:34 PM

Felix Jones will miss Sunday's game against Denver because of a sprained posterior ligament in his left knee, according to a source. It's possible he could miss more time and not return until after the Oct. 18 bye. Jones was noncommittal on his status, however. "I can use my two feet," Jones said. "That's good enough, right?"

Romo Makes A Point Of Mentioning Zero Turnover Night

Nov 8, 2014 8:04 PM

Tony Romo completed 66.7 percent of his passes and didn't throw an interception, something he was criticized heavily for after Week 2 and wanted to point out to the media. "We didn't have a turnover tonight and in that regard, I feel like we accomplished what we set out to do," Romo said. "The criticism was meaningless. It doesn't matter. It's all about improving on the football field. "That was my sole focus this week, to understand why I did certain things last week and to make sure not to do them again." He took a couple of sacks when that was probably the best decision he could have made. He got penalized for intentional grounding when he probably shouldn't have been.

Jimmy Johnson Still Believes In Romo

Nov 8, 2014 8:04 PM

Former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson still believes in quarterback Tony Romo. "I watched the Giants game," Johnson told the Star-Telegram. "Like everyone else, I couldn't believe what I was seeing there a couple of times with Tony. "But if I were still coaching today, I'd want Tony Romo to be my quarterback. I know everybody is down on him right now, but I am 100 percent sure he can be a big winner in this league. "Absolutely no doubt in my mind you can win what you want to win with Tony. He'd be my quarterback."

Source: Cowboys Might Rest Barber

Feb 17, 2014 1:13 PM

The Cowboys are "leaning toward" resting running back Marion Barber this weekend, according to sources. Barber suffered a quadriceps injury in the team's loss to the Giants last Sunday night. Dallas believes that they have enough depth with running backs Felix Jones and Tashard Choice to play without Barber for one week.

Cowboys Not Expecting Drop Off If Barber Sits

Sep 6, 2014 8:05 PM

Marion Barber may miss Sunday's game against Carolina due to a quad injury, but Dallas feels confident with their running game due to Felix Jones and Tashard Choice. "Obviously I'm not going to downplay what Marion brings to the table but I think the way he imposes his will and the way he plays not only helps your team but carries over to the other guys," tight end Jason Witten said. "You look at Felix [Jones] and Tashard [Choice], they're both talented guys and that's as deep as we are at any position. I think you've seen it with those guys. They understand the challenge there and embrace those roles." Jones hasn't had more than nine carries in a game in his career, but there is a sense of anticipation every time the ball is in his hands. "It just seems like something good always happens," Witten said. "You can miss blocks and he still makes guys miss. He's that kind of runner that can take it the distance at any point and time he gets the ball."

Dorsett Doesn't Believe Romo Deserve Hype

Oct 12, 2014 6:09 PM

Hall of Fame running back Tony Dorsett doesn't understand why people have made Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo a superstar. "I don't know why on God's Earth Tony Romo has been anointed a superstar in the National Football League," Dorsett told Fox Sports Radio. "Tony is very young in his career. Not to say you can't be young in your career and be a superstar because you've got one up there in Minnesota in Adrian Peterson. "But the thing is this: You have a guy who hasn't done much, and quarterbacks in the NFL, most of them go through this growing curve. He hasn't gone through that growing curve, but he was anointed this great player all of a sudden. Now he's having to live up to that. And obviously Tony has some deficiencies." Romo threw three interceptions and posted a quarterback rating of 29.6 against the Giants on Sunday after a career performance against the Buccaneers in Week 1. " ... He's a good player who's still learning how to play in the NFL, and I think the media has given him too much credit for doing nothing," Dorsett told Fox Sports Radio. "He hasn't done anything really in the NFL to deserve all the recognition and visibility he's gotten so far."

Cowboys Have Unwavering Support For Romo

Nov 2, 2014 4:27 PM

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday that he has tons of confidence in quarterback Tony Romo. "We have all the confidence in the world in Tony Romo," Jones said on his weekly radio show. Romo threw three interceptions in a prime-time loss to the rival Giants on Sunday night. He also posted a 29.6 passer rating in the 33-31 loss. "You'd like for him not to have a day like that," Jones told KRLD-FM in Dallas-Fort Worth, "but when everybody is pointing fingers, when it didn't go good, then you want someone who can walk into that huddle in the next snap at practice, the next snap in the ballgame and walk out there and cut and shoot and play like they just won the Super Bowl. That's a great quarterback."
