Chiefs, 49ers Were NFL's Fastest Teams In 2019

Jan 30, 2020 11:36 AM

The Kansas Chiefs were the NFL’s fastest team this season with ball carriers averaging a top speed of 13.34 mph, according to NextGen Stats compiled by SportRadar.

The San Francisco 49ers were right behind them at 13.32 mph.

“If we do line up for a relay, they’d probably win,” Niners safety Jimmie Ward. “But one thing about it, this is football. There’s such a thing as a helmet and shoulder pads. And we hit. We are very physical with how we hit.”

Tyreek Hill and Raheem Mostert are the fastest players on their respective teams.

George Kittle Has Played With Torn Labrum Since 2018

Jan 28, 2020 8:38 AM

George Kittle has dealt with a number of injuries this season.

A new injury was revealed on Monday when the San Francisco 49ers tight end said he's been playing the past two seasons with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

"So I dislocated my shoulder last year," Kittle said, "and my labrum is completely torn. So I don't get surgery on it... [The protective sleeve] basically helps me, so it doesn't hurt all the time."

Kittle has 173 receptions for 2,430 yards and 10 scores since the start of the 2018 season.

49ers Pushed To Wear All-White Throwbacks For Super Bowl

Jan 24, 2020 11:18 AM

The San Francisco 49ers pushed to wear their all-white throwbacks for Super Bowl LIV, but will instead wear their standard white jerseys with gold pants.

The 49ers wore the throwbacks on Oct. 27 in a home win against the Carolina Panthers and received an exemption from the NFL to wear them again for their Week 17 game at the Seattle Seahawks.

The 49ers wore the same style throwback, except with a red jersey, when they won Super Bowl XXIX during the 1994 season.

'Record-Breaking Demand' For Super Bowl LIV Tickets

Jan 21, 2020 10:45 AM

The average ticket sold since the 49ers-Chiefs showdown was set for Miami on Feb. 2 is a whopping $6,785, according to the ticket platform SeatGeek.

The current get-in price is approximately $5,500.

“In general, it’s record-breaking demand,” SeatGeek communications manager Chris Leyden said in a phone interview. “It seems like the market is about 20 percent hotter than we anticipated.”

Leyden believes the Super Bowl droughts of the 49ers and Chiefs have contributed to the demand. The 49ers have only been to one Super Bowl since they won in 1995, while the Chiefs haven't reached a Super Bowl in 50 years.

Hard Rock Stadium is also one of the smaller NFL stadiums with a capacity of 65,326.

“On a personal level, it was kind of surprising how much demand there is,” Leyden said. “Right now, it’s looking like a 50/50 split between the two fan bases.”

Tevin Coleman Has Dislocated Right Shoulder

Jan 21, 2020 9:09 AM

Tevin Coleman suffered a dislocated shoulder during Sunday's NFC Championship Game.

However, the injury shouldn't keep the San Francisco 49ers running back out of Super Bowl LIV against the Kansas City Chiefs on February 2.

"We have got to wait until we get the stuff back, so I don't want to speculate too much, but usually a week to rest it and usually gets back in," Kyle Shanahan said. "I expect him to have a chance to play. Can't hold me to that. We'll find out more after the imaging, but expect him to have a good chance to play."

Coleman rushed for 21 yards on six carries before the injury.
