Josh Norman has agreed to sign with Washington on a five-year, $75 million deal.

The Carolina Panthers rescinded the franchise tag on Norman this week, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Norman also considered the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints.

Norman emerged in 2015 as one of the NFL's best cornerbacks. 

By moving to the NFC East, Norman will continue his rivalry with Odell Beckham Jr. twice per season (Week 3 & Week 17 in 2016).

Josh Norman is meeting with Washington but the New Orleans Saints are also making a strong push to sign him.

The San Francisco 49ers were also one of the frontrunners to sign Norman, but his decision is now down to Washington and New Orleans.

John Elway says trade talks between the Denver Broncos and San francisco 49ers on Colin Kaepernick are "dormant."

Elway and Kaepernick met twice last month after the 49ers granted Kaepernick's request to pursue a trade. Unwilling to accept a revised contract offer from the Broncos, Kaepernick reported April 4 for the start of the 49ers offseason program.

"He's been working out from what I understand. That's all I'm going to say," Elway said in Denver at a pre-draft media session.

Washington and the San Francisco 49ers are strongly pursuing Josh Norman in free agency and are considered the frontrunners.

The 49ers have the cap room to make a significant offer to Norman, who would be a substantial upgrade over their current cornerbacks.

Washington's need at cornerback is less pressing and they also have less cap space.

Trent Baalke has denied a report claiming he and Chip Kelly have already had a rift in their working relationship.

"We have had a wonderful start to our relationship," Baalke said.

"I can tell you emphatically, that is total B.S," said Baalke of the report.

Colin Kaepernick continues to remain on the San Francisco 49ers' roster despite persistent trade rumors.

Trent Baalke said that he would "never say never" in regards to moving Kaepernick.

Baalke was asked if he might try to use Kaepernick to move up or down in the draft.

"I am not looking to package a quarterback" as part of a deal.

Jared Goff is visiting with the San Francisco 49ers on Monday.

Goff is being strongly considered with the first overall pick by the Los Angeles Rams and is believed to the favorite over Carson Wentz.

Goff went to college nearby at Cal.

The 49ers own the seventh overall pick in the draft.

The San Francisco 49ers will host Jared Goff and Carson Wentz this week.

Goff and Wentz have been visiting quarterback-needy teams for weeks.

Chip Kelly attended Cal’s March 18th pro day and was on hand for a second throwing session with Goff in Berkeley later in the month.

Carlos Hyde is ready for offseason activities following foot surgery.

Hyde appeared in just seven games for the San Francisco 49ers in 2015, rushing for 470 yards and three touchdowns. Hyde's best game came in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings.

"My foot is feeling great," Hyde said Wednesday, via the 49ers' official website. "I'm good to go."

Hyde elaborated on what "good" means.

"If we played tomorrow," Hyde said, "I'd be ready to go."

Colin Kaepernick needs at least one more month of rehab before he is football-ready.

Kaepernick has had no setbacks so far in his rehab.

The San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos are discussing a trade of Kaepernick but those talks are in a holding pattern as they negotiate the financial aspects.
