Eagles Believe They 'Overplayed' McCoy
The Eagles seem prepared to back off the number of carries given to LeSean McCoy this coming season.
"I probably overplayed (LeSean) McCoy a little bit, even though he doesn't want to hear that. As he continues to get older and have the number of reps under his belt that he does, you'll want to back off the number of reps that he does," Reid said over the weekend.
McCoy started 15 games for the Eagles and carried the ball 273 times for 1,309 yards and a league-best 17 touchdowns in 2011.
He also caught 48 passes for three touchdowns and 315 yards.
Reid Explains Reasoning Behind Samuel Trade
Andy Reid has addressed the reasoning behind the trade that sent Asante Samuel to the Falcons for a seventh-round pick.
Fans in Philadelphia were upset that the four-time Pro Bowl cornerback was dealt for so little in return.
"I completely understand our fans," the Eagles coach said. "He was one of my favorite guys. He was a good football player. But this is the name of the game in the National Football League. There's going to be change that takes place."
Moving Samuel allows the Eagles to start Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on one side and Nnamdi Asomugha on the other. Both can play press coverage or play off the receiver, while Samuel was exclusively an off corner.
"We try to exploit everybody's strength as players," Reid said. "Asante's best stuff was off and outside. And that's what we tried to do the years that he was here. With that, you're a bit limited. Listen, his production was great. He's a good player. These guys, you can do different things with, and we'll see how their production works out."
Chris Polk Agrees To Join Eagles
Washington running back Chris Polk has agreed to terms with the Eagles on a contract.
Some projected Polk as high as a second-round pick, but he wasn't among the 253 players selected in this year's draft.
"I will just have to go out there and show them I have a lot of great football left in me," Polk said.
"I know teams are concerned about my shoulder, but I also heard somebody say something about a degenerative hip, and there is just no truth to that. I had labrum surgery on the shoulder a year ago and it didn't slow me down last season."
Dawkins To Retire With Eagles, Have Jersey Retired
The Eagles will honor Brian Dawkins by retiring his jersey during their nationally televised Week 4 game against the Giants.
"I don't know anybody connected to the fans of this city like Brian Dawkins," owner Jeffrey Lurie said.
Dawkins, 38, retired from the NFL on April 23. He signed a one-day contract to retire with the Eagles after spending the previous three seasons with the Broncos.
Eagles Draft Another Developmental QB In Foles
The Eagles have added a developmental quarterback to their roster, drafting Arizona quarterback Nick Foles with the 88th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
"You're getting a big man, but also a big athlete, not necessarily a runner, but he has good feet and good presence," Andy Reid said. "I like the way he throws the football, and he's also a smart guy, which helps."
Eagles Trade For 12th Pick, Select Cox
The Eagles traded up on Thursday night, acquiring the 12th overall pick from the Seahawks in order to select Mississippi State defensive tackle Fletcher Cox.

Eagles Likely To Trade Samuel Before Draft
The Eagles are highly likely to trade Asante Samuel this week, according to league sources.
Philadelphia has been shopping Samuel since last year and they have come to terms with the fact that they aren't going to get much in return for the Pro Bowl cornerback.
Samuel's hefty contract, in which he's owed $21.5 million over the next two seasons, likely will have to be adjusted.
