Giants DT Bernard Recommends Vick Get Rid Of Ball Quicker

Nov 28, 2014 5:53 AM

Michael Vick has been sacked nine times and has been hit 28 times overall through the first three weeks of 2012.

"I know a lot of people want to blame it on the offensive line, but I think usually when stuff like that happens, it works both ways," Giants defensive tackle Rocky Bernard said. "Blocking also maybe he's holding the ball a little too long, trying to make the big play every time instead of taking what the defense gives you."

The Giants pass rush has been one of the best in the NFL for many seasons, 2012 included.

"Well, he's going to have to change," Bernard said of Vick. "He's not inhuman. You can't take that many hits and survive in this league so they're going to have to change something. I don’t know what."

Reid Clarifies Comments On Vick's Status As Starter

Jul 14, 2014 11:27 AM

Andy Reid clarified his comments that Michael Vick was the starting quarterback "right now" for the Philadelphia Eagles.

"It was the last question. I was finishing up the press conference," Reid said on his radio show on 94WIP in Philadelphia. "Michael's our quarterback. Period. Michael's our quarterback. Listen, does he need to get better? Do we all need to get better? Yes. We're all going to do that."

Vick has six interceptions through the first three games of the season.

"Right now we're with Michael (Vick), and that's what we're doing. We'll evaluate as we go," Reid said at the time.

LeSean McCoy Sent To Perimeter During All 20 Week 1 Carries

Nov 25, 2014 9:35 AM

LeSean McCoy is one of the NFL's elite running backs, but Andy Reid remains averse to calling run plays.

"The Eagles may want to consider running inside more, too," wrote Andy Benoit. "Every one of McCoy’s 20 carries against Cleveland attacked the perimeter. That makes sense, as the Eagles are a zone-blocking team, and McCoy is a speedy, finesse runner. Because of Vick’s threat as a bootleg scrambler, edge defenders have to play Philly’s stretch runs conservatively, which creates wider cutback lanes. However, let’s not forget the elementary basics here: if you run to the same spot every play, defenses will eventually figure it out. Four or five inside carries a game for McCoy would be enough to keep opponents honest."

Play-Calling, Receivers Deserve Blame For Vick's Four Interceptions

Oct 31, 2014 10:08 AM

Michael Vick threw four interceptions in the Philadelphia Eagles' 17-16 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, but his performance looked better on film review than in the box score.

"Vick actually played relatively well," wrote Andy Benoit on Twitter. "Got zero help from receivers and play designs.

"Vick not the problem Sunday. Play-calling and WR's were.

"Vick held ball forever because he had to. Every route was stretched downfield, no clear safety outlets built in."

Vick finished the game 29-for-56 for 317 yards, two touchdowns and the aforementioned four interceptions.
