Eagles Hire Kellen Moore As OC

Jan 28, 2024 2:14 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles are hiring former Los Angeles Chargers and Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore as their offensive coordinator, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Saturday.

The move comes two days after the Eagles hired Vic Fangio as their defensive coordinator in the first move of a coaching staff overhaul by Nick Sirianni. Moore will replace Brian Johnson, who was fired earlier this week.

Brian Johnson Out As Eagles Offensive Coordinator

Jan 24, 2024 8:30 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles have fired offensive coordinator Brian Johnson, sources have confirmed.

Johnson spent one season at the position after Shane Steichen left to become the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts last offseason.

A source described a disconnect between the visions of Nick Sirianni, Jalen Hurts and Johnson, which affected the offense's ability to land on an identity.

Philadelphia will also be looking for a new defensive coordinator for the second-straight season.

Eagles Fire Demoted DC Sean Desai

Jan 22, 2024 1:05 AM

The Eagles have fired demoted defensive coordinator Sean Desai, according to multiple reports.

Desai, 40, was hired by Philadelphia in February to replace Jonathan Gannon, who became head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Nick Sirianni demoted Desai in favor of Matt Patricia following blowout losses to the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys in early December that dropped the Eagles to 10-3.

Darius Slay: Eagles' DC Change Was Like Being In Two Marriages

Jan 18, 2024 8:36 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles made the unique decision to demote defensive coordinator Sean Desai late in the season, handing the coordinator job to assistant Matt Patricia.

The Eagles went 1-4 in the five games Patricia called the defense.

"I've never been part of that, a whole new coordinator coming in," cornerback Darius Slay said.

"That's tough, but I don't control that kind of stuff. I just try to do my job the best I can. Trying to find two identities. It's tough. It's like having two marriages. You know how hard two marriages would probably be in a household? Two personalities of two women? That's tough. No offense to the women. That's crazy talk. One might want her feet rubbed, one might want her shoulder rubbed. That's crazy."

Report: Nick Sirianni To Meet With Eagles Ownership Wednesday

Jan 17, 2024 8:21 AM

Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni will meet with owner Jeffrey Lurie and general manager Howie Roseman on Wednesday, according to a report.

The meeting itself is routine. It will follow exit interviews with players and meetings with coaches, but the circumstances are unique.

Sirianni's job status has come into question just a year after he led the Eagles to a Super Bowl appearance. After a 10-1 start this season, Philadelphia lost six of their last seven games. They were eliminated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the divisional round on Monday night.

If Sirianni keeps the job, he'll likely be asked to hire new coordinators.

Nick Sirianni 'Not Thinking About' Job Status After Loss

Jan 16, 2024 9:02 AM

The meltdown of the Philadelphia Eagles reached a conclusion on Monday night with a 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After starting the season 10-1, the Eagles lost six of their last seven games -- many against inferior opponents.

When asked after the game if he was concerned about his job status, Nick Sirianni chose to focus on what the loss meant for his players rather than what it means for his future.

"I'm not thinking about that," he said. "I'm thinking about the guys. Again, there's a lot of guys in that locker room, all the guys in that locker room, every single one of them that put their heart and soul into this. I'm not worried about me."

Sirianni has led the Eagles to the playoffs in each of his three seasons. They have a 2-3 record in those games.

Sources: Jason Kelce Tells Teammates He'll Retire

Jan 16, 2024 8:54 AM

Jason Kelce told his Philadelphia Eagles teammates in Monday night's postgame locker room that he is retiring, according to sources.

The 36-year-old All-Pro center was visibly emotional at the end of the Eagles' 32-9 wild-card playoff game loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kelce declined to talk with reporters after the game, saying: "No guys, not today."

Lane Johnson told reporters that Kelce has "hinted" to teammates that this would be his final season.

Jalen Hurts: Finger Is 'Progressing In The Right Way'

Jan 12, 2024 8:46 AM

Jalen Hurts says his finger is "progressing" in the correct way as the Philadelphia Eagles prepare to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.

Hurts dislocated the middle finger on his throwing hand in the regular-season finale against the New York Giants.

The quarterback wore a glove on his throwing hand during the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media.

Before that, Hurts said he hadn't thrown a ball since Sunday's game at New York.

"Obviously leaving that game and attempting to go back into that game probably wasn't physically the best idea, not having much control over the things that I wanted to do," he said. "But time will tell with that, and I can assure you things are progressing in the right way."
