Jason Babin Plans To Run With Bulls

Oct 31, 2014 11:36 AM

Eagles defensive end Jason Babin said he plans on running with the bulls in Spain this July. "It's kind of a rite of passage," Babin said after his first OTA on Wednesday. "It's a stamp. I guess in my brain I have a figurative man card that's got certain punches that need to be punched out." One may question whether running with the bulls in Pamplona, where a few have suffered significant injuries and sometimes death, is proper behavior for a professional football player. "Everyone thinks it's dangerous and hazardous," Babin said. "But it's not, if "done correctly and soberly." "Bulls can't turn the corner on cobblestone, so as long as you're on the inside you're going to be alright," he added. "I broke the tape down like game film."

Vick Creates Stir Over Appearance At Dealership

Oct 7, 2014 7:07 AM

Michael Vick stopped at a local car dealership in Henderson, Nevada this week to sign autographs and take photos with fans, but the event went south from there. According to the Las Vegas Sun, personnel at Findlay Toyota posted the Vick photos to the company's Facebook page and were slammed with angry comments labeling Vick a "dog killer." One individual "threatened to beat (Vick) up." Others promised to boycott Findlay Toyota for sponsoring the football camp. The dealership quickly pulled the plug on their Facebook page. "We're just trying to do something right for the kids and people just forget about that," said Stephanie Bernas, the company's marketing manager and social media director.

Jeff Garcia Wants To Play For Eagles Again

Oct 31, 2014 6:14 AM

Jeff Garcia, 42, isn't done playing quarterback in the NFL. After spending 2006 and 2009 with the Eagles, he's lobbying for another chance with the organization. "Philly's the team my wife will let me go back and play for," Garcia told WIP-FM. "She's the only one that will approve the move, so to speak. Our experience there in Philadelphia in 2006 was just, for me as a player, one of the best experiences that I've had."

McCoy: Dream Team Season 'Humbled' Eagles

Oct 7, 2014 7:08 AM

The Eagles were 8-8 last season after then-backup quarterback Vince Young labeled them the "Dream Team" before they played a game. "With the expectations, and us not only not meeting our goals, but not making the playoffs, we learned a lot," running back LeSean McCoy said. "I think it humbled us. With all the big-time players that we have, we really have to check ourselves and go into the season to prove ourselves. "I really think all of the hype is out the window and it's a new year. I think there's a lot of pressure for us as players. We have to make sure we do the right things." Philadelphia rallied to win the final four games of last season, but it was too little, too late. In the end, it was just the third season since 2000 that Philadelphia missed the playoffs.

Coach: Vick Sometimes Tries To Do Too Much

Oct 7, 2014 7:10 AM

Michael Vick made risky plays and committed too many turnovers last season during a disappointing year for the Eagles. "He gets caught sometimes doing too much, trying to do too much, and that's where he gets in trouble," Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Pederson said. "We eliminate those and keep him within our system, and positive things are going to happen." The Eagles committed 38 turnovers in 2011, the second-most in the NFL. "I've had a chance to sit down with Mike, one-on-one, in the room, by ourselves, watch the good, watch the bad, and for me not only to teach off of that but just to watch his expression, see how he reacts to the negative," Pederson said. "He's learned from that. I think it makes him a better quarterback going forward, obviously. If we cut those two areas down, be more efficient in the red zone, don't turn the ball over as much ... your chances of success obviously go up."

Asomugha Feels He Could Have Worked With Samuel

Sep 13, 2014 10:16 PM

Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha believes he could have worked with Asante Samuel on excelling as a part of the Philadelphia defense. Samuel was traded to the Falcons last month for a late-round draft pick. Asomugha signed with the Eagles before the 2011 season. The pair only played one season together. "I thought it could have worked, and I still think it could've worked," Asomugha said. "Everybody keeps saying that, you know, 'No, it can't work, you three, blah blah blah. ' I still thought it could've worked, even coming into this season. Asante and I would talk about it through the offseason, like, we can fix this. ... Now we've got another year under our belt; now we've got time; and then he's gone. So now it's like you don't get that chance to put it back out there. But, you know, it's whatever, and he's happy with where he is."

Umenyiora Sorry For Mother's Day Tweet

Oct 31, 2014 6:14 AM

Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora has apologized to women he offended with his "Happy Mother's Day" wish to Eagles running back LeSean McCoy. In response to a column written by Sarah Spain for espnW that criticized the defensive end for insulting McCoy by referring to him as a female, Umenyiora tweeted Thursday, "@SarahSpain is absolutely correct in her article. I wasnt thinking about it from that perspective. I apologize to any woman offended." Last summer, Umenyiora referred to the Eagles running back as "Lady Gaga" and "she" after McCoy tweeted that the defensive end is "overrated" and "soft" and the third-best defensive lineman on the Giants.

Suggs, Peters Could Forfeit Millions

Jul 16, 2014 5:13 PM

Eagles tackle Jason Peters and Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs may lose millions of dollars in salary because both of their injuries fall under the nonfootball-injury provision of the collective bargaining agreement. Peters and Suggs both suffered offseason Achilles injuries that have put part or all of their 2012 seasons in jeopardy. The applicable wording in the CBA, Article 20, Section 3 provision states: "A player who is placed on a Nonfootball injury or Illness list ("N-F/I") is not entitled to any compensation under his contract while on such list ..." Both players have claimed they were injured during off-site training sessions but league and union sources agree that any injury sustained that does not occur at the team's facility or under its direction is considered a "Nonfootball injury."
