Giants Pass For Franchise-Record -9 Yards In Loss To Jets

Oct 29, 2023 7:35 PM

The New York Giants lost quarterback Tyrod Taylor in the second quarter and set a franchise record for passing ineptitude in a 13-10 overtime loss to the New York Jets on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

Taylor will remain at Hackensack Medical Center overnight with an injury to his rib cage, according to the Giants. Undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito came on in relief for his NFL debut and went 2-of-7 passing for minus-1 yard.

Dalvin Cook To Talk To Agent, Jets GM About Trade

Oct 27, 2023 1:16 AM

Dalvin Cook, admitting he's frustrated in a reduced role with the New York Jets, said Thursday he will speak to his agent and general manager Joe Douglas about the possibility of a trade.

Cook, who had only three carries for 12 yards in the Jets' last game -- a Week 6 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles -- has been the subject of trade speculation. The trade deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.

"It's something I can't control, that my name is being floated around in trade rumors," he said. "It might be a good thing. Maybe [it's] a bad thing."

Cook said he's not necessarily seeking a trade; he wants what's "best for everybody."

Oct 18, 2023 3:40 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired Mecole Hardman and a 2025 seventh round pick from the New York Jets for a 2025 sixth round pick.

Hardman left the Chiefs to sign a one-year, $4 million deal with the Jets last offseason. Hardman had played in only 28 offensive snaps.

Aaron Rodgers 'Ahead Of Schedule,' But Hurdles Remain

Oct 18, 2023 7:41 AM

Aaron Rodgers, attempting to make an unprecedentedly quick return from Achilles surgery, says that he's "obviously, ahead of schedule" but cautioned that he still has many hurdles to clear before he'll be back on the field.

Rodgers, in his weekly spot on "The Pat McAfee Show," said it "makes absolutely no sense" to have a specific timetable for return. He left no doubt, however, that he wants to play again this season.

"You have to hit a bunch of different things and be found a certain way, but that's the goal," the New York Jets quarterback said.

Report: Aaron Rodgers Played Role In Week 6, Suggested Plays

Oct 17, 2023 8:06 AM

Aaron Rodgers did more than just throw on the field before the New York Jets upset the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon.

Sidelined with a ruptured Achilles tendon, the veteran played a role for the team during the game as well.

Rodgers wore a headset and offered suggestions to coaches during the game, according to a report.

The Jets didn't score an offensive touchdown until the final two minutes of their 20-14 win, but the locker room was easily influenced by their superstar quarterback's presence.

"He wanted to be on the sidelines," Robert Saleh said after the win. "It's unbelievable. A lot of people that I have talked to – I won't name names but who have also had it – that everyone is in awe that he is even walking. For him to be on the sideline standing the entire time, he's a freakazoid."

Robert Saleh: Jets Have Embarrassed Gauntlet Of Quarterbacks

Oct 16, 2023 9:00 AM

Robert Saleh was riding high after the New York Jets' defense shut down Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon.

Saleh said that every quarterback who plays the Jets gets "embarrassed."

"Our defense, per the usual, outstanding," he said. "Through these first six weeks, we've played a gauntlet of quarterbacks. I know we haven't gotten all wins, but we've embarrassed all of them. Just really, really proud of the defense and its resolve. I thought [Jeff Ulbrich] and his staff had an excellent game plan, down three corners, four of our six corners. I thought our d-line was good in terms of keeping him in the pocket — he's a handful, Hurts, their o-line, their receivers, but our guys battled all the way through."

So far this season the Jets have faced Josh Allen, Dak Prescott, Mac Jones, Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson and Hurts.

The Jets have yet to give up a 300-yard passing game and have recorded eight interceptions.

Jets Vow To Give Jalen Hurts '11 Kisses' On Tush Push Play

Oct 12, 2023 9:32 AM

The New York Jets vow to be ready for the "tush push" when they face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon.

"If the quarterback carries the ball," Robert Saleh said, "we've got to give him 11 kisses."

The Eagles were successful on four of six pushes in last week's 23-14 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. For the season, they've converted 13 of 16 into first downs or touchdowns -- an 81.3% success rate.

"It's a unique style, just the way they get down there, in that rugby stance, and get low," linebacker C.J. Mosley said. "It's just really hard for defenses to get under and get that push. That's really the main thing. Besides that, they've got three guys behind and pushing him, so it starts the defense off at a disadvantage."

Jets Looking At Trade Options For Mecole Hardman

Oct 11, 2023 8:39 AM

The New York Jets are looking at options for wide receiver Mecole Hardman, including a potential trade, according to sources.

Hardman, 25, was inactive in Week 5 and has not been in the offensive plans despite signing a one-year, $4 million contract with upside to $5.5 million.

He has just one catch for 6 yards in four games this season. He has played just 24 snaps, including two on special teams.

"I'm probably the best in the league in space," Hardman said last week. "Maybe [the coaches] see something different. I'm just waiting for the opportunity to present itself. I think when I was in K.C., I proved that I was probably the most dangerous guy on the jet sweep or whether it be on the end around or on the screen. I think I proved year-out that I was that guy that you had to worry about doing that."
