Jets Hire Nathaniel Hackett As Offensive Coordinator

Jan 26, 2023 11:29 AM

The New York Jets have hired Nathaniel Hackett as offensive coordinator.

Hackett replaced Mike LaFleur in the job.

Hackett was fired before the end of his lone season as head coach of the Denver Broncos.

Hackett was previously offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2021 and developed a good relationship with Aaron Rodgers. The future of Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers is uncertain and the Jets are on the market for a veteran quarterback.

Jets Owner 'Absolutely' Willing To Pay For Veteran Quarterback

Jan 13, 2023 9:24 AM

The New York Jets are set for offensive changes after seasons with 25th- and 26th-place finishes in total offense.

They have already parted ways with offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur and there could be changes at quarterback as well.

Owner Woody Johnson told reporters that he "absolutely" is willing to spend big on a veteran quarterback this offseason.

"We've got a cap so there's an amount you can spend," Johnson said. "But, yeah, yeah. That's kind of the missing piece."

Darrelle Revis headlines a list of 15 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's class of 2023.

Joe Thomas, Dwight Freeney and Revis are all eligible for the first time.

Albert Lewis, who played his last game in 1998, has waited through the customary five-year period after retirement to go with 20 years of eligibility to be named a finalist for the first time.

The remainder of the finalists are: Jared Allen, Willie Anderson, Ronde Barber, Devin Hester, Torry Holt, Andre Johnson, Zach Thomas, DeMarcus Ware, Reggie Wayne, Patrick Willis and Darren Woodson.

The Hall of Fame's board of selectors will meet in the coming weeks to choose a maximum of five modern-era finalists for enshrinement. The class of 2023 will be announced Feb. 9.
