Derek Carr is expected to meet with a number of teams at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this week.

According to a report, Carr will meet with the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and New York Jets.

The quarterback has already met with the Saints and Jets in some capacity this offseason.

Carr was released by the Las Vegas Raiders this week just before more than $40 million of his contract became guaranteed. Carr declined to waive his no-trade clause.

The Jets used first-round picks on Mark Sanchez (2009), Sam Darnold (2018) and Zach Wilson (2021) but never achieved stability at the position.

Woody Johnson said recently that quarterback was the "missing piece" and that he would "absolutely" pay big bucks to acquire a veteran. 

The New York Jets have hired former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing as their passing-game coordinator, according to a source.

Downing, who was fired after the season, has ties to both Ryan Tannehill and Derek Carr. The quarterbacks could be offseason targets for the Jets.

Downing was the Las Vegas Raiders' quarterbacks coach in 2015 and 2016 and their coordinator in 2017 -- three Pro Bowl years for Carr, who is expected to become a free agent this week.

The New York Jets have inquired with the Green Bay Packers about the availability of Aaron Rodgers in a trade, according to sources.

Rodgers, 39, said on "The Pat McAfee Show" last week that he is going on a four-day/four-night darkness retreat this week, during which he plans to contemplate his playing future.

Rodgers, who has spent his entire 18-season career with the Packers, said he has not decided whether he will play in 2023, be it with Green Bay or another team.

Garrett Wilson has been named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, while Sauce Gardner was named Defensive Rookie of the Year, giving the New York Jets a clean sweep.

Wilson had 83 catches for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns. 

Gardner allowed just two TDs, per Next Gen Stats, and earned a -28.8 target EPA, second-best among all corners in 2022. 

ESPN has Brock Purdy jumping from 262nd overall to fourth in their redraft of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The San Francisco 49ers selected Purdy with the final pick in the draft and he emerged as a productive starting quarterback following the injury to Jimmy Garoppolo.

The New York Jets owned the fourth overall pick and selected Sauce Gardner, who went first overall in ESPN's redraft, and instead get a quarterback to replace Zach Wilson here. Wilson was the No. 2 pick in 2021 and does not appear to be a starting quarterback in the future.

Aaron Rodgers discussed his relationship with Nathaniel Hackett during a Tuesday appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

Hackett, who was recently hired by the New York Jets, was the offensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers when Rodgers won MVP awards in 2020 and 2021.

"Love Hack. Hack is my guy. Love him and Megan and the kids," Rodgers said. "They're really special to me. We really bonded when he was in Green Bay. He made it fun. He made the room fun. He made the weeks fun."

Rodgers made it clear he hasn't made a decision about his football future, but the quarterback had been linked to the Jets in rumors even before Hackett was hired.
