Jets Interested In Hosting Annual Black Friday Game

May 17, 2023 9:06 AM

The New York Jets are one of multiple teams that "raised their hand" to host the NFL's new Black Friday game annually.

The Jets will host the Miami Dolphins in this year's inaugural Black Friday game on Amazon.

NFL executive Mike North told reporters last week that the Cincinnati Bengals lobbied to host the Black Friday game as an annual fixture.

During an interview with Adam Schefter, he mentioned the Jets as another team interested in being an annual host of the holiday game, similar to the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys traditionally hosting nationally televised games on Thanksgiving.

"I hope I'm not speaking out of turn when I mentioned to people that the Bengals volunteered," said North, the NFL's vice president of broadcast planning. "There were others that kind of raised their hands for Black Friday as well."

Brandon Marshall Says He'd Unretire To Join Aaron Rodgers With Jets

May 16, 2023 8:27 AM

Brandon Marshall said during a recent episode of his "I Am Athlete" podcast that he'd be interested in coming out of retirement to play for the New York Jets if the opportunity came up.

The career wide receiver also said he'd be willing to make the switch to tight end if it meant getting the chance to play with Aaron Rodgers for one season.

"Here's why I'll be ready if I get the call to come back as a New York Jet at tight end: We're going to win a Super Bowl," Marshall said.

"I'm going to be able to contribute at a high level, and this is what I'm going to be able to give you: 45 catches throughout the year, 20 to 30 plays a game, and I'm going to give you eight touchdowns."

Robert Saleh Says Talk Of Aaron Rodgers' Wish List 'Silly'

May 8, 2023 8:59 AM

Robert Saleh is denying reports that Aaron Rodgers came to the New York Jets with a wish list of roster additions.

The head coach said it's a "silly narrative" to say the Jets are signing former Rodgers teammates simply because the new quarterback is pulling the strings.

The Jets have added four ex-Green Bay Packers -- Allen Lazard, Tim Boyle, Billy Turner and Randall Cobb.

"It's very common for new faces to want old faces, to come in and help accelerate the installation of an entire program," Saleh said. "Everything is pinned on the quarterback. It's not just him.

"[Offensive coordinator Nathaniel] Hackett has something to say about it. He loves Lazard. He loves Randall. He took Billy Turner with him to Denver, and he wanted him here. Of course, you're going to surround a coach with people who he feels like will plant the flag.

"That whole narrative -- what people are trying to put on the quarterback -- it's tired. It's common practice in the NFL."

Aaron Rodgers Sees Similarities Between Garrett Wilson, Davante Adams

May 3, 2023 8:21 AM

Aaron Rodgers already has high praise for his new No. 1 wide receiver with the New York Jets.

In just a few days of practice, Rodgers sees similarities between Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams.

"Obviously Garrett, you know, he's a talented guy," Rodgers said Tuesday on The Pat McAfee Show. "I threw him a pass today and just kind of turned and was like, 'Wow.' His ability to kind of get in and out of his breaks … there's another [No.] 17 I played with for a long time who does it better than anybody. The explosiveness in and out of breaks, the 17 here, is pretty similar."

Jets Sign OT Billy Turner

May 2, 2023 8:06 AM

The New York Jets have fortified their offensive line by signing veteran tackle Billy Turner.

The Jets didn't address the position until the later rounds of the draft this past weekend.

Turner, 31, who started seven games last season for the Denver Broncos, will be reunited with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Turner was a full-time starter for the Green Bay Packers, where he blocked for Rodgers from 2019 to 2021.
