Cam Newton Doesn't Feel Like New England's Starting QB

Aug 27, 2020 8:48 AM

Cam Newton has received a majority of the snaps with the first team in training camp with the New England Patriots, but he doesn't feel as though he's won the starting job.

"Absolutely not. Every day is a workday for me. That label is not important to me right now," Newton said. "I have so much I need to get better at, so much I need to learn, so much I need to be comfortable with. Throughout this process, that's the last thing that I'm pretty much worried about."

In the Patriots' ninth practice of training camp, Newton led the two-minute offense and struggled. Newton sees the command of Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham in those situations and needs to measure up.

"There are certain things when I come to the line of scrimmage and it's just not as firing mentally as I would want it to be rather than other plays that may be called," he said. "I see a person like Hoyster go to the line and he's as sharp as can be. For me, asking him questions, and he answers them. Stiddy [too]. There are things I know I need to become better at. Until I get those things done, everything else is irrelevant."

NFL's 32 Teams Collectively Worth $99 Billion

Aug 26, 2020 1:29 PM

The average NFL franchise is worth more than $3 billion, according to data compiled by Sportico.

The Dallas Cowboys rank first in the NFL at $6.43 billion with the Cincinnati Bengals ranking last at $2.12 billion.

The fair-market value of the NFL's 32 franchises collectively is $99 billion when considering team-related businesses and real estate held by owners.

The teams’ $15.83 billion in revenue in the last fiscal year, which represents the 2019 season, was greater than that of 298 companies on the Fortune 500. That averages to about $495 million per team.

In 2019, the Cowboys generated an estimated $871 million in revenue, which was 81% greater than the average of the other 31 teams.

All Three Quarterbacks Splitting Reps At Patriots Camp

Aug 19, 2020 9:01 AM

Cam Newton, Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham are splitting the quarterback reps in camp with the New England Patriots.

According to reporters present at camp, Stidham was the most impressive of the three on Tuesday. The second-year player threw just four passes as Tom Brady's backup last season.

Bill Belichick has yet to name a starter for the regular season, although the prevailing belief is that Newton will win the job.
