Marqise Lee Embracing New Opportunity With Patriots

May 14, 2020 8:50 AM

Marqise Lee has found himself with the New England Patriots as he looks to revive his career.

The wide receiver signed a four-year, $38 million contract extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars two years ago. He was released in April and signed a one-year, $300,000 deal with the Patriots.

"It's been difficult, but it's been a task in which I've quite enjoyed as far as knowing myself," Lee said. "After these certain injuries, you've got some people who get down on themselves and then want to shut it down. For me, it's kind of like a motivating factor.

"I just want to see where I'm at. It will be good to get out there and play football, which I feel like I haven't played in the last couple years. I'm just ready to get at it."

Brady Strongly Denies 'Deteriorating Relationship' With Josh McDaniels

May 12, 2020 8:19 AM

Tom Brady is strongly denying a report that stated that he had a "deteriorating relationship" with Josh McDaniels, which played a role in his departure from the New England Patriots.

The report claimed the quarterback was "worn out" by the offensive coordinator.

Brady wrote his response on Instagram on Monday night, writing "Please stop this nonsense!" and "Please be more responsible with reporting."

Brady tagged McDaniels in his Instagram response with a heart emoji and added, "19 years together and brothers for life."

Tom Brady, Josh McDaniels Had 'Deteriorating Relationship'

May 12, 2020 11:35 AM

The decision by Tom Brady to leave the New England Patriots was influenced by his relationship with Josh McDaniels. Brady and McDaniels spent 12 seasons together.

"Hard to present an order of why Tom Brady didn't want to return to Patriots," writes Gary Myers. "But one thing has been very much overlooked, according to an excellent source: His deteriorating relationship with OC Josh McDaniels. Tom was worn out by Josh after all these years. That surprised me."

Brady also wanted more input on New England's game plans.

Patriots, Buccaneers Don't Play In Same Time Slot Until Dec. 20

May 11, 2020 8:48 AM

The New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers don't play a game at the same time until Week 15 of the 2020 season, which will allow New England fans to follow Tom Brady closely with his new team.

What might have been viewed as a masterful ratings-focused move by the NFL was actually a coincidence, helped by both teams having five prime-time games.

"Putting together the 256-game schedule is very complex -- it's a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma," league spokesman Brian McCarthy said, when asked if the league had this Brady-Patriots dynamic in mind. "The minimal conflicts here are coincidental."

Sam Darnold: Jets Won't Take The Patriots Any More Lightly

May 6, 2020 11:03 AM

There has been a lot of change in the AFC East this offseason, but Sam Darnold won't view the division's dominating force any differently.

Tom Brady left the New England Patriots for the NFC, the Buffalo Bills traded for Stefon Diggs and the Miami Dolphins drafted Tua Tagovailoa. The loss of Brady in New England, obviously, generated the biggest headlines.

"For us, every single game in the NFL is a tough one, and I think any player can attest to that," Darnold said. "So we're not going to take anyone more or less lightly just because — even though one of the greatest players, if not the greatest player of all time, left the organization. We're not going to take [the Patriots] any more lightly."
