Victor Cruz: Patriots Don't Want To See Giants In Super Bowl

Dec 29, 2016 7:32 AM

The New England Patriots and New York Giants are both in the playoffs for the first time since 2011, the same year they met in the Super Bowl for an epic rematch.

"They don't want to see us," Victor Cruz said. "I'm sure if you ask them (they'd say) they'd play anybody, they don't care. I'm sure they don't want to see us. That's for sure."

Michael Floyd Had .217 BAC, Could Face Jail Time

Dec 22, 2016 8:16 AM

When Michael Floyd was arrested in his vehicle on Dec. 12, he had a blood-alcohol level of .217, which could land him in jail.

Floyd was arrested and charged in Scottsdale after he fell asleep in the driver's seat of his vehicle while stopped at a traffic signal. He has been charged with more serious offenses due to the results of his BAC test, which were revealed Wednesday.

He was released by the Arizona Cardinals after the arrest, but claimed on waivers by the New England Patriots.

Arizona state law carries harsh penalties, including jail time, for having a blood alcohol level over .15 and even tougher penalties for a BAC over .20.

Only Steelers Rank In Top-10 In Offense, Defense DVOA (Infographic)

Dec 21, 2016 10:38 AM

The NFL has very teams this season that excel in all facets of the game. Further evidence of this issue shows itself in the fact that there is only one team ranking in the top-10 in both Football Outsiders' Offensive and Defensive DVOA: the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are 9-5 after winning five straight games and must beat the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16 to ensure their place in the playoffs. Pittsburgh ranks third in total DVOA and first in Weighted DVOA.

Last season, the Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs ranked in the top-10 on both sides of the ball. The Chiefs are the closest team to joining the Steelers in the top-10 in both Offensive and Defensive DVOA at 13th and 12th.

The Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots rank first and second overall in DVOA as they rank second and third, respectively in Offensive DVOA but 20th and 19th in Defensive DVOA. The Atlanta Falcons rank first in Offensive DVOA, 27th in Defensive and fourth overall. The Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders have similar splits as the Cowboys and Patriots, while the Seahawks, Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants are the inverse of those teams with top-5 defenses and offenses below the NFL mean.

Exec: Patriots Outthink, Outexecute, Outmuscle You

Dec 16, 2016 1:20 PM

The New England Patriots continue to win even without Rob Gronkowski. The level of consistency shown by Tom Brady and Bill Belichick has been extraordinary.

"Belichick and [Tom] Brady just discourage you," said one NFL team executive. "The Patriots outthink you, outexecute you, and what a lot of people fail to recognize, they often outmuscle you. If you don't disrupt Brady, you've got almost no chance."

Brady and Belichick have reached 10 AFC Conference Championship Games.

Jimmy Garoppolo Likely To Receive Trade Interest From Browns

Dec 11, 2016 12:18 PM

The Cleveland Browns are expected to address the quarterback position in the offseason through a trade.

Some believe Cleveland will pursue a trade with the New England Patriots for Jimmy Garoppolo. The Browns and Patriots were trade partners earlier this season.

With Tom Brady continuing his career with no signs of regression, the Patriots could look to trade Garoppolo.

The Browns traded down last year in the draft instead of selecting Carson Wentz.

Rob Gronkowski Out Two Months With Back Surgery

Dec 2, 2016 10:15 PM

Rob Gronkowski will undergo back surgery on Friday and is expected to miss two months.

Gronkowski left Sunday's game against the New York Jets with an injury. A source told Schefter that ultimately Gronkowski was diagnosed with a herniated disk. The need for surgery was first reported by The Buffalo News.

Gronkowski played seven snaps in Sunday's win over the Jets, leaving the game late in the first quarter as he walked off under his own power with members of the team's medical staff.

The team later announced he had a back injury during the game and would not return.
