Tom Brady has reaffirmed his plan to continue his playing career in 2019 and beyond.

"I absolutely believe I will. I know I've talked about it for a long time: I have goals to not only play next year, but beyond that," Brady said in his weekly interview on Westwood One. "I'm going to try to do it as best I possibly can. I'm going to give it everything I have, like I always have.

"It will certainly be a challenge. I don't take any of these things for granted, but I hope I can keep playing, and I hope I can keep playing at a championship level."

Brady's current contract with the New England Patriots expires after the 2019 season.

Brady discussed the place football has in his life.

"I've been able to be in a career for 19 years that I love. I wake up every day excited to go to work. I wake up every day fulfilled with what I'm doing. I don't think there's any greater gift in my life than to have that," he said.

"Along with that has come a lot of other very cool opportunities, but in my heart and soul, I love playing the sport of football and it's brought me so much joy in my life. It tests you in so many ways. I've been dealing with it for a long time. There's anxiousness and nerves, and joy and happiness. There's disappointment and frustration. The emotions run the gamut. But if you can stay and build your mental toughness, it's just been incredibly rewarding. I'm a very, very lucky man."

The New England Patriots created an elaborate plan to help prevent Josh Gordon from suffering a relapse. Security was assigned to be with Gordon at all times. 

Sources believe that Gordon somehow eluded New England's security team during the team's Nov. 18 bye weekend.

Gordon was suspended indefinitely Thursday for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement under the NFL's drug policy.

The New England Patriots lost Josh Gordon for the remainder of the season this week, but the team is attempting to keep a business as usual approach.

“There wasn’t much reaction,” said Tom Brady. “We all wish him the best. I think that’s kind of how we all feel. We want him to do what’s right for him.”

Brady has commented almost weekly about all the positive work being put in by Gordon. He was asked Friday if he saw any indication trouble might be coming, if there was shock when he heard about it.

“That’s exactly how I felt, so. I certainly appreciate all his efforts and hard work and, you know . I didn’t have much of a reaction,” Brady said. “Just focus on what I need to do. That’s kind of the way it’s been all year.”

Josh Gordon has announced he will be taking a mental health break by leaving the New England Patriots.

"I take my mental health very seriously at this point to ensure I remain able to perform at the highest level," wrote Gordon in a statement. "I have recently felt like I could have a better grasp on things mentally. With that said, I will be stepping away from the football field for a bit to focus on my mental health. 

"I would like to thank Coach Belichick, Mr. Kraft, as well as countless others within the Patriots organization for their continued support. I want to thank my fans for their support as well as I continue down the path getting back to 100%."

A source told ESPN's Dan Graziano that Gordon is facing a potential suspension for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement under the NFL's drug policy. 

Stephon Gilmore, who held Antonio Brown to just two catches on four targets this past Sunday, claims the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver made some dirty plays.

Brown and Gilmore got into a post-whistle shoving match during the third quarter.

"He did a little dirty move," Gilmore said. "[Brown] grabbed my helmet, threw me down. That was super dirty. But other than that, just competing on the field."

Brown caught a 17-yard touchdown, but Gilmore wasn't defending him on the play.

Bill Belichick is taking the blame for the New England Patriots' breakdown on the Miami Dolphins' game-ending 69-yard touchdown Sunday.

He also explained the decision to put Rob Gronkowski on the field in place of safety Devin McCourty in the Hail Mary defensive package.

"It starts with me. We have to play better situational football. We'll work to try to achieve that," said Belichick, who wanted Gronkowski on the field to "play the deep, long throw."

The Dolphins had the ball at their own 31-yard line on the play.

"It was a little too far to get to the end zone, but certainly a deep pass in that situation is a possibility. I wouldn't rule that out," the coach said.

Robert Kraft gave Josh McDaniels an improved deal last offseason to keep him from joining the Indianapolis Colts as head coach.

McDaniels is again drawing interest this season.

“I care about winning Sunday. That’s what really what I care about,” Kraft told the Herald, stopping for a moment last night at the team’s Children’s Holiday Party at the Putnam Club at Gillette Stadium. “Whatever happens . . . you know, we have good people. I’m actually flattered that people are after our people.”
