The St. Louis Rams created a smokescreen at No. 13 in regards to their purported interest in Johnny Manziel.
The Rams wanted to select Zack Martin all along.
Jeff Fisher said the Rams neither made calls or received calls about the availability of Sam Bradford. The Rams have been unequivocal in their desire not to trade Bradford.
In 2013, Bradford had 14 touchdown passes against four interceptions before tearing an ACL.
Michael Sam was the 249th overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft, becoming the first openly gay player to be drafted in league history.
Video of Sam receiving the call from the Rams and Jeff Fisher revealed the player's emotion while surrounded by friends, family and his boyfriend.
Sam's emotion carried over into a conference call with the St. Louis media.
"Let me tell you something, if we were playing the Vikings right now, I'd probably have three sacks the first game," Sam said. "Since February and my big announcement, this has been a whole [lot of] speculation of the first openly gay football player, but you know what? It's not about that. It's about playing football.
"Can Michael Sam play football? Yes, I can, and the St. Louis Rams know I can. I am going to give everything I've got to the St. Louis Rams to help the Rams win a championship."

Jeff Fisher denied reports that the St. Louis Rams are shopping Sam Bradford in trade talks.
Fisher said Tuesday that Bradford is "our starting quarterback."
The Rams are looking for a potential backup to Bradford, not his replacement.
"We have all the confidence in the world (Bradford) will be back," Fisher said.
The Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Rams have held conversations about a trade of Sam Bradford.
The Rams own the second overall pick and could select a quarterback to replace Bradford.
Johnny Manziel is of interest to the Rams.
Bradford has cap hits of $17.6 million in 2014 and $16.58 million in 2015.
For a team dealing for Bradford, all $50 million of his guaranteed money has already been paid.
