Bears Name Andy Dalton Starter For Week 1

Aug 24, 2021 12:38 PM

The Chicago Bears have confirmed that Andy Dalton will start in Week 1.

Dalton will not play in the team's preseason finale at the Tennessee Titans. Justin Fields will start that game and is expected to play two quarters before being replaced by Nick Foles.

"I think it's going to be a good opportunity for Justin and then you know we'll be selective across the board for the other players as we go but you're going to see a direction of more kind of like the old school fourth preseason game for that," Matt Nagy said.

Report: Raiders Explored Trade For Khalil Mack

Aug 23, 2021 9:37 AM

The Las Vegas Raiders traded Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears three years ago.

Earlier this offseason, the Raiders called the Bears to inquire about bringing Mack back.

A trade would have triggered a cap charge for the Bears of more than $20 million, given Mack’s signing bonus and a 2019 restructuring.

Justin Fields: Disrespectful To Chant My Name While Dalton Is On Field

Aug 22, 2021 11:43 PM

Fans in Chicago want Justin Fields to be the Bears' starting quarterback, but the rookie will support Andy Dalton as long as the veteran has the job.

Fields said he was uncomfortable with hearing fans cheer his name while Dalton was still on the field during Saturday's preseason game.

"I noticed it, of course. The fans are awesome, but they also have to realize Andy is a human being too," Fields said.

"Andy is out there on the field right now, so I really think it’s kind of disrespectful to Andy, them cheering my name like that. They have to trust in coach to make sure he’s making the right decisions and cheer Andy on. That’s not helping Andy play better, them cheering my name. That’s not doing that. So I would say my advice to them would be just cheer for who’s out there playing on the field."
