Bears GM: Everything Is On Table With QB Spot

Jan 14, 2021 8:33 AM

Ryan Pace says everything is on the table as the Chicago Bears search for a quarterback.

"As far as the plan at quarterback, to get to where we want to go, we definitely need more out of that position," Pace said.

"Everything is on the table."

The general manager declined to say whether the Bears intended to re-sign 2017 second overall pick Mitchell Trubisky.

Bears Likely To Retain Matt Nagy, Ryan Pace

Jan 12, 2021 9:14 PM

The Chicago Bears are likely to retain Matt Nagy as head coach and Ryan Pace as general manger.

The fates of Nagy and Pace had been uncertain after the Bears lost eight of 11 to end the year and finished 1-7 versus playoff teams in 2020.

The Bears, however, have reached the playoffs in two of the past three seasons.

Pace is in his six year as general manager.

Chuck Pagano Decides To Retire, Leaves Post As DC Of Bears

Jan 12, 2021 9:09 PM

Chuck Pagano will retire from his post as defensive coordinator of the Chicago Bulls.

Pagano was hired by the Bears on Jan. 11, 2019, to replace decorated defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

Chicago's defense again appeared to be the club's strength in the early parts of the 2020 season, but the group's performance leveled off as the year wore on.

Mitchell Trubisky Still Sees Future With Bears

Jan 11, 2021 2:14 PM

Mitchell Trubisky believes he still has a future with the Chicago Bears.

"I think I can definitely see myself back here next year," Trubisky said after Sunday's 21-9 playoff loss to the New Orleans Saints. "Obviously, a lot of that is out of my control, but it feels like home and it feels like we have unfinished business.

"Right now, I'm just bummed about this season being over and how the game went. So, a lot of emotions going on right now, but I can see that. We'll see. There are a lot of things that have to happen and a lot of decisions that have to be made and that's out of my control, but I can see that."

The Bears declined Trubisky's fifth-year option last May. The quarterback will be an unrestricted free agent unless Chicago decides to use the franchise tag, which would be worth roughly $23.5 million.

Mitchell Trubisky Wants To Open Up Offense Against Saints

Jan 7, 2021 8:40 AM

Mitchell Trubisky wants the Chicago Bears to open up their offense against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon.

"I think we definitely need to open it up a little bit," Trubisky said of the playoff matchup. "As far as staying aggressive, I like going for it on fourth down. That's just a mindset, but I think, more importantly, we've got to score more touchdowns in the red zone...

"Our special-teams unit is doing incredible, and we gotta keep that going. But we gotta help our team and put our defense in better positions by finishing with touchdowns. That just makes you a better offense and better team, so I think that's the main improvement we want to see this week."
