Before he was traded from the Chargers to the Bears on Thursday, wide receiver Keenan Allen revealed that Los Angeles had permitted him to explore several options for where he wanted to continue his career after spending 11 seasons with the franchise.
"There were a couple teams that they would allow me, I guess, to say where I wanted to go," Allen said Saturday. "I only had like two teams."
The Chicago Bears are trading quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2025 6th-round pick that can convert into a fourth-round pick based on playtime, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Saturday.
Fields joins a quarterback room that just added quarterback Russell Wilson and lost Kenny Pickett in a trade with the Eagles.
The Chicago Bears have acquired Keenan Allen from the Los Angeles Chargers for a fourth rounder.
The Chargers approached Allen about taking a pay cut on a restructured contract.
Last season, Allen caught 108 balls for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Chicago Bears will sign D'Andre Swift to a three-year, $24.5 million deal, according to the running back's agent.
The contract agreement includes $15.3 million in guaranteed money.
Swift, 25, posted career highs in rushing attempts (229) and yards (1,049) in his lone season with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023.
The Chicago Bears have agreed to a two-year, $15 million deal with Kevin Byard, according to a source.
Byard fortifies the Bears' secondary after Eddie Jackson was released last month.
The Philadelphia Eagles released Byard earlier this month after trading two draft picks to acquire him before the trade deadline last season.
The Chicago Bears have reached an agreement on a four-year, $76 million deal with cornerback Jaylon Johnson, according to sources.
The contract includes $43.8 million guaranteed at signing.
Johnson will make $28 million in the first year of the deal.
The Bears placed the nonexclusive franchise tag on Johnson on Tuesday, but general manager Ryan Poles expressed confidence last week that the sides would reach a long-term deal.
