Report: Stefon Diggs Frustrated With Voice In Play-Calling

Jun 20, 2023 8:18 AM

There was drama surrounding Stefon Diggs and the Buffalo Bills last week.

Diggs was not in attendance last Tuesday when camp opened up, and Sean McDermott said he was "very concerned" about the situation.

After that first practice session, Josh Allen told reporters that Diggs' issues were "not football-related." The next day, Diggs returned to the facilities and was on the practice field.

According to a report, Diggs' frustration is due to his role in the offense and his voice in the team's play-calling.

Diggs caught 108 passes for 1,429 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns in 16 games played last season.

However, after being upset by the Cincinnati Bengals in the divisional round, The Athletic reported that Diggs sprinted out of the locker room with all of his things before some of Buffalo's coaching staff even made it down to the tunnel that leads to the locker room.

He was seen "exchanging some words" with Allen on the sideline during the loss, and later took to Twitter to explain that he just wasn't OK with losing.

Stefon Diggs Back At Camp With Bills

Jun 14, 2023 5:02 PM

Sean McDermott said he feels the situation with Stefon Diggs "resolved."

Diggs was excused from Tuesday's mandatory minicamp practice with the Buffalo Bills.

Diggs was present and participated in individual drills during Wednesday's session.

McDermott said that Diggs did everything the team asked for by reporting to the team's facility on Monday and took his physical, and then reported again Tuesday for meetings. On Tuesday, a meeting took place with "a good conversation, great communication," that led to the decision that some space was needed.

"We got to a point yesterday where I just, we just, felt like we all needed a break and some space," McDermott said. "And so, I gave Stef permission to get some space and head out and then picked up those conversations after practice."

Josh Allen Takes Some Blame For Stefon Diggs Drama

Jun 14, 2023 8:45 AM

Josh Allen said Stefon Diggs' absence from the Buffalo Bills' first mandatory minicamp practice Tuesday, after leaving the facility earlier in the day, comes from an issue the team is working on internally.

The quarterback said he did not think there is a personality conflict between him and Diggs but that there are things that could have gone better last year.

Some examples Allen gave of what the Bills can do to support Diggs is incorporating him "a little bit better in what we're doing here" and "getting him the ball or getting more involved in the game plan."

Allen said that it is related to "teamwork" and has to do with more than just football, but he placed some responsibility on himself, saying, "There's things that I could do better to help out with this process and try to get him back here and be the Buffalo Bill that he's meant to be."

"I think we're just, as an organization, maybe not communicating the right way with everything," Allen said. "So again, just trying to talk and listen at the same time and hear him out. And like I said, just try to move this forward as quickly and as respectfully as possible."

Stefon Diggs, Bills Differ On Whether He Was At Camp

Jun 13, 2023 4:27 PM

Sean McDermott said Stefon Diggs was not at mandatory minicamp with the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday.

McDermott called Diggs' absence "very concerning" before Tuesday's minicamp practice. Diggs had missed voluntary workouts.

Diggs' agent, Adisa Bakari, told ESPN's Adam Schefter that his client is in Buffalo and has been there since Monday morning. He said Diggs took his physical, met with McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane the past two days and "will be there for the entirety of the minicamp."

The wide receiver signed a four-year, $96 million extension last offseason, and trading him would incur a significant dead cap hit, including $13.2 million this year.

Josh Allen Named Madden NFL 24 Cover Athlete

Jun 7, 2023 2:08 PM

Josh Allen has been named the cover athlete for Madden NFL 24.

"It's such a small group of people who have ever touched the face of Madden, so now to be on that list, it's very surreal. It's very humbling," Allen told ESPN. "To think about where I was not too long ago and coming out of high school with zero offers, going to junior college and have one offer, University of Wyoming of all places, and then fast-forward to now.

"I don't know if I would have believed you at that point, if you were to tell me in high school. It's so surreal. Madden has such a special place in my heart."

Allen grew up playing Madden and would often play as the San Francisco 49ers, who were his childhood favorite team.

Allen began last season as a 92 overall in Madden and got as high as a 96 before finishing the season as a 93.

Damar Hamlin Takes Part In Bills' Team Drills

Jun 7, 2023 8:30 AM

Damar Hamlin donned a helmet and fully participated in an OTA practice that was open to the media for the first time on Tuesday.

It marked a significant step toward playing football for the Buffalo Bills safety after suffering cardiac arrest during a game at the Cincinnati Bengals on Jan. 2.

Brandon Beane said Hamlin first put on his helmet during the final practice session last week, which made his first day of wearing a helmet last Wednesday.

"Really proud of him to take that next step," Beane said.

"[I] texted his parents [Nina and Mario Hamlin] afterwards, like, just so proud of him and thrilled for where he's at in his journey. He's still got more milestones to hit, but to think back, we're just at the beginning of June and that was the beginning of January, and we were just hoping he'd live, and now he's not only got a normal life, but we're talking about playing, not any football, NFL football. So, thrilled for him, all the people that have been around him, and it's an amazing story."

Bills Break Ground On New $1.54B Stadium

Jun 6, 2023 8:12 AM

The Buffalo Bills have broken ground on their new $1.54 billion stadium.

The agreements for the new home include a 30-year lease and a non-relocation agreement that makes it difficult for the team to leave Buffalo.

"While Buffalo isn't one of the larger NFL markets, the days of us operating as a small-market team are in the past," EVP/chief operating officer Ron Raccuia said.

"On the field, we've become a national brand, gaining national attention and attracting national opportunities. Our fans stretch across the country and the world, and as an organization, we carry this banner with commitment and pride."

The new stadium will officially also be called Highmark Stadium, as announced by Terry Pegula, thanks to a new naming rights agreement with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York to extend the partnership with the Bills.
