Toronto Eager To Host More Games

Aug 23, 2014 9:04 PM

If the NFL decides to add a 17th game to the schedule, then organizers of the Bills series in Toronto will be eager to bring that game to Canada. Phil Lind, vice chairman of Rogers Communications, said Saturday that his company would be eager to expand on the existing eight-game, five-year deal with Buffalo if the opportunity presented itself. "Absolutely we're going to go for that game, if it happens," said Lind. "We're going to look for that one and maybe another one. . . . Generally speaking, am I open to a game or two more? Yes."

Losman Expected To Start For Bills

Jul 13, 2014 5:13 AM

J.P. Losman is expected to start for the Bills on Sunday against the Dolphins because Trent Edwards is doubtful with a groin injury. Buffalo's playoff hopes are riding on Sunday's game. "Yeah, you could write all these stories up, and that's a great word," Losman said. "I'm not going to repeat it, but it's a great word to use, I guess. The ball bounces funny in this game." The Bills will have to beat the Dolphins and then win out to qualify for the postseason.

Toronto Game Could Be Blacked Out

Mar 4, 2014 4:47 PM

According to Ticketmaster's website, non-VIP seats to Sunday's game ranged in price from $105 to $350 (Canadian). With such steep prices, many Bills' fans have decided to remain in Buffalo Sunday afternoon, and, as of yesterday, organizers in Toronto were still hustling to avoid the TV blackout the NFL imposes on games that don't sell out. But they are confident that the remaining 1,000 or so tickets will be sold by Thursday's 4 p.m. deadline. "We're extremely close (to a sellout) and fully, fully expect the game to be on television on Sunday," said Rogers Communications' Adrian Montgomery. If the game is not sold out in time, it will be blacked out in the Buffalo and Toronto areas.

Ricky Williams: I Just Like Canadians

Jun 4, 2014 4:13 PM

Ricky Williams is returning to Toronto this week as the Bills host the Dolphins at the Rogers Skydome. He played for the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL. "In general, I just like Canadians," Williams said Wednesday. "They all seem very nice and honest. In America, I think sometimes you're frowned at when you try to be an individual and be yourself. "From my experience, that's something that's appreciated in Canada,'' Williams said. "Obviously, I'm not going to fit in everywhere I go so I really enjoyed it up there for that reason." Williams went further, even saying he respected the loyalty of the fan base in the CFL, comparing them favorably to South Florida fans. "Each town that we went to, including the hometown fans, when you go to a game, the people there are true fans," Williams said. "Sometimes, especially in Miami, you get people coming only when you're winning. Going to places like Hamilton or Regina, Calgary, there are really, really huge football fans there."
